Regan James 9 months old

His 9 month WCC stats (8/25/2010):

weight: 14 lbs 14 oz .12%
height: 28 in 36%
head: 17.5 23%

This will be LONG and detailed. I want to get it all down for our family book, and for Regan’s baby book.

So it all started 9 months ago…. the Butt Vomit that is. For his first 6 months we (us & Doc.) thought it was just food allergies. At 4 months his weight gain started to slow. At 6 months we (us and Doc.) became a bit concerned about the slow down and the chronic diarrhea (Butt Vomit, or BV as we call it). He also had real bad eczema. He at that point got his first (of many) blood draws for an allergy test. We found out that he is allergic to wheat and dairy. So I stopped eating those and his skin cleared up. The BV was still going strong. We took him in at 7 months old for his first weight check. These are his weights checks:

4 months old: 13 lbs
6 months old: 13 lbs 11 oz (decided to start solids to help him gain)

These next few are all 2 weeks apart:
7 months old: 14 lbs 7 oz
7 months old: 14 lbs 4 oz (getting real worried)
8 months old: 14 lbs 9 oz (worried, but not panicked. yet)
8 months old: 14 lbs 1 oz (in the dark and twisty place of freaked out crying. Decide to try Nutramigen for 2 weeks and see if that helps.)

These ones are one week apart:
9 months old: one week of formula and he is 15 lbs! (relief! but the BV is still going strong so we start giving him the good Bactria to see if that helps)
9 months old: 14 lbs 7 oz (back in the dark and twisty place of freaked out crying)
9 months old: 14 lbs 11 oz
2 days later at his WCC: 14 lbs 14 oz

As you can see his weight gain is not at all consistent. His eating however is. 6 oz every 3 1/2 – 4 hours. He get’s weighed again on Monday. He has seen 3 different pediatricians at his Doctor’s office. 1 has since moved. 1 is stumped. 1 says don’t panic yet, that some kids just yo-yo their weight at this age. They have given him a Failer to thrive (FTT) diagnosis. (LOTS of panicking AND crying…) All 3 say it’s time to see a pediatric GI specialist. So he has an appointment set for 9/7. We are hoping the specialist will have some answers. Even with all the extra Doctor visit’s and the worry, Regan is such a JOY in our home. It’s hard to believe that it’s been 9 months since we were blessed with our little man. Here is some of his fun:

*He is so active army crawling ALL over the house.
*Cut 2 teeth without our noticing.
*Is eating his formula like a champ. (It was a rough start for me (OUCH!) and him)
*Says, “Dadda” and “Mama”
*Laughs and smiles ALL the time.
*LOVES to talk, talk, talk….
*He know his name.
*Is still a snuggle bug and a Mama’s boy. (I love that I’m his favorite.)

Dearest Regan,
please gain LOTS of weight. And STOP having the BV, bleeding bum, and scaring your parents.
xoxoxo- your Mama & Daddy

18 month WCC, a new Sling, & Free Diapers!

Jon took Kaylee in for her 18 month WCC and shots yesterday afternoon. She will be 19 months next week so this appointment was a little late. Oh, well. She did great as always with the shots. She even called me to tell me all about it. We were hoping that this appointment would be the last for weight checks… well she goes back in a couple months for another weight check! At least we get a month off from taking her in to get weighed. But she is going in next month to get the second does of both the seasonal and H1N1 flu shots. So Jon will be taking her in for more shots. 🙂 Everything else about her is great. We were really hoping that she would be 20 lbs, but no luck. She just burns her food off faster than we can get it in her!

New stats:
Weight: 19 lbs 1 oz (.49%)
Height: 30 3/4 in (18%)
Head: 18 1/4 in (41%)

New things she says and does:
After diaper changes when we stand her up to put her pants on she likes to point at her Jesus collage and say, “Jesus!” Jon says she sounds like she’s cursing. 🙂 But we both think it’s cute.

She follows my R.S. ladies around the house and helps them with the chores. Their favorite is when she plugs the vacuum in for them and moves the kitchen chairs out of their way while they are sweeping.

She will get a pot and lid out and make food for us. The other day she dumped pretzels in a pot stirred them and said, “yummy!” She then feed me her delicious food.

She says, “pease help me.” We love this. She started saying it by herself one day and got such a good response from us she hasn’t stopped since and only occasionally has to be reminded to be polite.

This cutie pie is doing something funny and new everyday. Way to much for one post so these are just the new favorites. She is such a joy to us!

FUN STUFF!

I got my new Sling in the mail on Tuesday! It is so BEAUTIFUL and fits perfect! I am so looking forward to wearing Regan around in it. Hopefully that day is still a few weeks off. 🙂 Look how pretty it is. THANKS ORA! Oh, and my name is on both slings in fabric pen. I’m not losing my spare arms again!

So this is for all you Mommies out there with kids in diapers. Thursday while Kaylee was at the docs office the UPS man came to our house. Why is this blog worthy you may wonder… well he brought me 80 FREE diapers!!! Yup FREE. Would you like some free diapers??? Silly question I know. 🙂 Here is how I got free diapers. As I’ve typed so much already I’ll just give you the link. This is one of my favorite sites. Go here http://www.engineeradebtfreelife.com/2009/08/how-to-get-free-diapers-plus-10-free-we.html for instructions if you are interested in some free diapers. It took a week for them to call me back then less than a week for the diapers to come. Plus after I do a short phone interview after using the diapers they will send me a $10 check!!! Very much worth it for a small amount of effort on my part. Hope everyone had just as fabulous a week as we did! Happy weekend everyone. Let it be hospital and new baby free. 🙂

18 lbs. 8 oz.!

Jon took this picture yesterday after church. He wanted me to put it on the blog and say that this was our day… it wasn’t. 🙂 She was lovely except for this moment. Our day was the opposite of this picture. 🙂 She wanted to take the picture and got mad at Jon when he didn’t understand. She handed Jon the camera saying, “cheese peas.” We thought she wanted her picture to be taken. So this is her telling Jon he did it all wrong.

Anyway to the weight check. She gained 11 oz this last month! She’s drinking more milk (loves strawberry nesquick) and I think her body got used to burning all the extra calories from walking. So yea! The doc. & nurses are much happier with her weight gain this month. Hopefully her body will keep up the good work and next month she will be on the 1%tile for weight. She is getting closer to the 1%tile so that’s exciting. So depending on her weight gain at her 18 mo. WCC she may or may not need testing. Wish us luck keeping up with little misses super fast metabolism, and that that is her only issue with gaining weight! Meanwhile it’s sort of a blessing because I can still lift her up when needed as she’s under 20 lbs. 🙂 Here are some of Kaylee’s new fun stuff from the last month:

Body parts she knows (most known for a few months):

  • ojo- eye (is getting better at poking her own eye instead of the persons who asked, & she says ojo.)
  • nariz- nose (will “honk” her own nose now)
  • boca- mouth (is the newest learned)
  • manos- hands (claps them together)
  • belly button
  • toes
  • tushie (will slap her own bum now instead of ours)

working on:

  • oreja- ear
  • pies- feet

She can identify these parts on herself, other people and on her babies. The ones she knows in English we will work on the Spanish later. Those few I forgot how to say in Spanish and didn’t think to call my parents and ask. We are with the help of my parents trying to teach as much in Spanish first as she will pick up the English from just hearing it. Jon is great at remembering to say the words in Spanish. He thinks his accent is terrible, but we are all just happy that he’s saying the words at all. These are the words/phrases she is bilingual with so far:

  • turn off the light
  • light
  • turtle/s
  • where’s your/the…?
  • goodbye
  • bathroom
  • thank you
  • kisses for…?
  • shut the door (for doors, cupboards, drawers)
  • please
  • shoes
  • socks

Her new funny cute thing this month is:
If you ask her, “Who’s a cutie patutie?”
She will say very nonchalantly like it’s just no big deal, “Me!”

Her chores are:

  • putting her dirty clothes in her hamper
  • putting her bath toys (the turtles) away
  • washing her own hands and face with her wash cloth after meals and snacks (is pretty good, but still needs help getting all the stuff off)
  • handing Mommy the T.P., and flushing the toilet (potty training prep)
  • brushing her own teeth in the A.M. & P.M. (we still finish up “the right way” for her)
  • putting any shoes away in the shoe rack

She is such the big helper and we think she is just an amazing little person. We know it’s probably a lot for 17 month old, but she is super independent and the chores evolved from her wanting to do it herself.
