Truck on fire.

We took the children on an over night camp out with the ward. Kaylee was so excited to be camping with so many church friends. She had an amazing time, and was so lovely. Regan gave us emotional whiplash. Apparently 5 days of antibiotics is not quite long enough when you are fighting an ear infection. Poor dude. Then he got motion sick on the drive home, and puked all over himself, and somehow into my water bottle.IMG_3154 IMG_3155 IMG_3156 IMG_3158 IMG_3159 IMG_3161 IMG_3162 IMG_3163 IMG_3172 IMG_3184 IMG_3186 IMG_3187 Ha! He had good times mixed in with his pouty not feeling so hot self. He especially enjoyed playing basketball with "my guys". These boys were so sweet with Regan.

IMG_3178IMG_3189So then Regan puked on the way home. And since we were only 20ish min from home and I figured it would take about that long to properly clean him and and change his clothes just to strip him for a shower when we got home…. I just did a quick mop up and gave him a puke bag. Poor little dude.

AND then when we were seriously less than a minute from home the truck caught fire! Oh, the chaos. The craziness. The momentary panic as I was getting the kids OUT of the truck onto the median of whether I should grab the camera or not. Sanity reigned and the camera got left behind.

001We were at our last intersection before pulling into our neighborhood, stopped at a red light when smoke starts pouring into the cab through the vents. Thick nasty smoke. Jon quickly rolls down the windows, and tries to pop the hood. Gages all were reading normal. Truck had been running beautifully. I called Josh and asked him where the hazards where, and to let him know that oh, by the way your truck that you so kindly lent us for the camp out is on fire!

002Can I just say for every rude person there are many more kind helpful souls out there. Truck on fire, Regan covered in chunks, everyone looking/smelling awful from camping, standing in a busy intersection, and Kaylee just wants to go home and get ready for the pirate party she had been invited to. Let the good times roll! And remember that sanity reigned and so there are NO pictures of this madness. So must visualize.

People were yelling both kind and helpful things, and others, not so much. We had a couple very sweet good Samaritans come to our rescue. And I find it amusing that the scariest looking dudes are usually the sweetest. This lovely fellow with a truck a supplies to tow offered to tow the truck home. Awww.

This awesome woman offered to drive me and kiddos home. She was a Mama who didn't have her children with her and therefor had empty car seats for mine. (Fasted answered prayer EVER!) She also chewed out this RUDE lady for me.

Rude Lady: Hello! This is a terrible spot to park! Get out of the way, you are being SO rude! (Said with MUCH anger, and attitude!)

Sweet Lady: Excuse ME for trying to get these little kids OUT of a dangerous situation! You can go around me, or wait, but I am helping them!

Rude Lady: You are so rude and inconsiderate! (Stupidly, and far to rapidly zooms away.)

Sweet Lady: (To me.) Some people are idiots! (To which I emphatically agreed.)

LOVED my Sweet Lady so much.

So while Jon and the nice fellow took care of getting the truck home, I stripped Regan down to his soggy puked underwear in the road before loading the kids into the sweet ladies car. I figured we were already a spectacle the lest I could do was strip a kid down for everyone. Nah, mostly I was trying to get as little puke on sweet lady's car seat as possible.

003 004 006 008Josh arrived after I had tossed the kids into the shower, and after the truck was settled into it's final resting place. He made good time from his house. The whole fiasco was the longest 15 minutes of my life.

It appears a critter built a nest, and that's where the fire started. Dwayne says it's fixable. I cried. LOTS. Kaylee, ever my example has been praying non stop for Uncle Josh's truck.

And her prayers are quite effective. We originally thought the truck was toast, that fixing it would be thousands. But it turns out it should be fixable for hundreds. YEA!

Hopefully this charred melty goodness will soon be pretty, shiny, and new.

This was one epic family adventure. One I am okay NEVER repeating again. Well I'll repeat the camping part, just not the vehicle on fire part.

Memorial Day Weekend

We had such a great weekend. I was sick the whole time. But didn’t feel that bad just a cough no fever or other symptoms. So I just powered though. “Power though” was my weekend mantra. I was glad I powered though. It really was a fun weekend.

We started off our busy weekend with a family trip to the zoo. This trip we made sure to see the big cats as requested by Kaylee and Nathan. Kaylee was my “navigator” sitting on the front of the stroller.

We also went to one of the playgrounds/splash pads they have in the zoo. These two cuties were on occasion freezing and needed a cuddled to warm up before going back to play.

Later that night we went to the Sapp’s house for a family BBQ. The children had a blast on the tramp and in the pool.

Sunday afternoon Jack’ee came over to visit, and do hair. My roots were in desperate need of bleaching! She also cut and highlighted Kaylee’s hair! Kaylee’s been BEGGING for a while. And Jon asked me if there was a good reason not to do it. I couldn’t think of any reason why not to let her get some VERY subtle highlights. So Jack’ee reluctantly foiled up her niece. You can’t hardly tell that there are highlights in her hair. Jack’ee did an AMAZING job. Kaylee was beyond thrilled at having matching hair with her Mama.

I also got to practice Jack’ee’s wedding hair too! So much fun. I should have taken a picture. Next time I will. I need LOTS more practice before I get all the kinks worked out and the DO is wedding worthy.

See our happy guy. He was So happy during Jack’ee’s visit. That is until he grabbed the flaming hot salon (heats to a bajillion degrees!) curling iron that was on to warm up.

It was HORRIBLE!!! So so so so so horrible. My poor baby! Please ignore my smile. I am not sure why I am smiling. I felt like Regan’s face inside. Jack’ee felt like it was all her fault. It wasn’t. We all felt terrible. Sad night.

Monday we went to the Jan Day house for some AWESOME deep fried chicken and swimming fun with cousins. Jan is Shannon’s MIL, and we are in her ward. So fun! She and her hubby are super nice. We love them, and are ever grateful to be invited to family functions.

After several hours of fun we (Jon, Josh, and myself) were dressed and ready to go home. The children were not.

Dwayne is such a tease. The children were giving me heart attacks trying to get back into the pool. Regan thought the mini dips were fun. Kaylee not so much.

Regan drenched his shoes while we were all laughing at Kaylee freaking out over her toes getting wet. And then pitched a major fit as we left anyway. Stinker. 😉

So um, I awesomely got walking pneumonia. Fun stuff. Good times. No. Not really though. What I thought was an after cold linger cough was not a linger cough. After coughing for about 10 days and my lungs feeling heavy and odd I was still fighting Jon about going to see the Dr. there was TOO much to do and I didn’t feel THAT bad.  Day 11 brought PAIN. It  hurt to breath. And Kaylee was complaining of another UTI. So I called the Dr. and got us appointments.  He took a look and a listen, and said, “sounds light walking pneumonia”. And then loaded me up with Rx’s. I got a major “I told you so” from Jon. 🙂

Then Kaylee and I went home to lay on the couch and feel miserable (you can find the three of us in this position most of the day still). Regan joined us with his burned hand, and Jon took a photo of his sicky ouchy family. We are all on the mend. Regan’s hand is healing up nicely, Kaylee is on different antibiotics to hopefully knock out this infection, and I am still using the inhaler “as needed for wheezing” as instructed by Dr. M, the pharmacy, and Rx. Makes laugh every time I see it.

Josh, “Ya. You have been wheezing a lot.”

Today I was feeling REALLY good. So I walked the children up to the library (10 min stroller walk) to get some movies and books. And also to just get out of the house. By the time I got home I thought I was going to die. Hahaha. I went straight for my inhaler when we walked in the house.

Jon, “You have pneumonia! You need to rest.”

I should really start listening to my hubby…
