Camping Sedona

We decided it would be fun to go camping at the end of October. Because we are brilliant…. Holy frozen everything Batman! And then we had our friend Ryan walking around wearing shorts and sandals!!! I didn’t get a picture. I was too cold to get more than these few.
IMG_0724These two were so cold that they just shared a chair and blankets. I later tossed a sleeping bag on them.IMG_0725 IMG_0728Jon was reminiscing about the days when he could zip Regan up into his coat to keep him warm. Also when your wife does ALL the packing while you are at work you just don’t complain about the ONE thing that was forgotten. I really did feel bad about not packing his beanie. He really didn’t even mention it. “I’ll just use my scarf.” Reasons I love Jon.IMG_0731Quick flashback to November 2009.

IMG_2566No one else blink. EVER. My little snuggle bug is getting so big! 🙁

IMG_0732Regan is our sleeper. He passed out warm and snug in his Daddy’s arms wrapped up in his sleeping bag in front of the fire. I was not at all jealous. 😉 IMG_0735It really was fun. And I was very happy that I took the time to pull out and pack our winter gear (not counting the missing hat) for this camp out. Our snow shoes saved our feet. My extra gloves saved Cami’s hands. No more fall camping for this dessert rat. I’m a wuss pants when it comes to being cold.

Although YES to more camping in Sedona. I love that place.

Camping Mogollon Rim

We decided to be brave and take all the kids camping with some friends. It was awesome fun. They all ran around and really had a blast exploring the wild.

And then the night came, and with it our super chill Monkey girl decided that she did NOT approve of sleeping in the outdoors. She SCREAMED. ALL.NIGHT.LONG! Like she was possessed. It was so very out of character.

I had the four older kids in the tent and Jon took Monkey to the van to sleep (really to try and reduce the noise so others could sleep.). Jon and Monkey did not sleep at all.

It was a very very strong reminder to us of our never go camping with babies rule. We thought super chill Monkey girl would not be a problem. We thought wrong.

Looking super glamorous… Eh. DSC06954 DSC06961 IMG_7432 IMG_7430 IMG_7429 IMG_7428

Regan was VERY protective of his special dairy free chocolate bars. He had to keep them with him the whole time Smores where being made. Heaven forbid someone should use HIS chocolate. 😉 IMG_7426 IMG_7425

You see that smile on RJ’s face? The best. And Monkey girl trying so hard to get that mallow?

IMG_7433 IMG_7434They LOVED it.

IMG_7441 IMG_7443 IMG_7444 IMG_7445 IMG_7448 IMG_7451Monkey girl was climbing all over the inside of the van (I was with her) and she got herself a bit wedged between seat and door. She didn’t love that I took a picture before rescuing her. (She wasn’t hurt, just mad about being stuck.)IMG_7453I don’t think she actually ever made significant contact with the ground. Everyone wanted a turn holding her. It was a pass the baby kind of weekend.IMG_7455 IMG_7456 IMG_7458 IMG_7459Aside from not sleeping it was fun. The four big kids loved running around the woods with friends and roasting all the mallows. I think we brought home all the dirt. Super fun. Super tired.
