My Girls

This last Wednesday night Kaylee was trying so hard to put on Sam’s high heal shoes. It was really cute. So of course I had to get a few photos. She was just wearing her jewelery and bloomers as she was running a low grade fever, but Sam thought it would be so much cuter to put her in Sam’s Zebra shirt. I’m so glad we did! It made the cutest little dress. She was so cute and so happy putting on the shoes and of course the lipgloss. I love just how girly these too are when they get together.

Kaylee and I spent the last 10 days at my parents house. It was a fun just because weekend visit that got extended by a week. The only thing that would have made it perfect would have been having Jon with us. We REALLY REALLY missed our guy. I’ll post the rest of our weeks photos when I get them from my Dad. Besides Kaylee getting a random low grade fever we really enjoyed getting super spoiled. I love my parents & siblings so much! And I LOVE how much Kaylee loves them and them her. Thanks everyone for just so much fun!

18 lbs. 8 oz.!

Jon took this picture yesterday after church. He wanted me to put it on the blog and say that this was our day… it wasn’t. 🙂 She was lovely except for this moment. Our day was the opposite of this picture. 🙂 She wanted to take the picture and got mad at Jon when he didn’t understand. She handed Jon the camera saying, “cheese peas.” We thought she wanted her picture to be taken. So this is her telling Jon he did it all wrong.

Anyway to the weight check. She gained 11 oz this last month! She’s drinking more milk (loves strawberry nesquick) and I think her body got used to burning all the extra calories from walking. So yea! The doc. & nurses are much happier with her weight gain this month. Hopefully her body will keep up the good work and next month she will be on the 1%tile for weight. She is getting closer to the 1%tile so that’s exciting. So depending on her weight gain at her 18 mo. WCC she may or may not need testing. Wish us luck keeping up with little misses super fast metabolism, and that that is her only issue with gaining weight! Meanwhile it’s sort of a blessing because I can still lift her up when needed as she’s under 20 lbs. 🙂 Here are some of Kaylee’s new fun stuff from the last month:

Body parts she knows (most known for a few months):

  • ojo- eye (is getting better at poking her own eye instead of the persons who asked, & she says ojo.)
  • nariz- nose (will “honk” her own nose now)
  • boca- mouth (is the newest learned)
  • manos- hands (claps them together)
  • belly button
  • toes
  • tushie (will slap her own bum now instead of ours)

working on:

  • oreja- ear
  • pies- feet

She can identify these parts on herself, other people and on her babies. The ones she knows in English we will work on the Spanish later. Those few I forgot how to say in Spanish and didn’t think to call my parents and ask. We are with the help of my parents trying to teach as much in Spanish first as she will pick up the English from just hearing it. Jon is great at remembering to say the words in Spanish. He thinks his accent is terrible, but we are all just happy that he’s saying the words at all. These are the words/phrases she is bilingual with so far:

  • turn off the light
  • light
  • turtle/s
  • where’s your/the…?
  • goodbye
  • bathroom
  • thank you
  • kisses for…?
  • shut the door (for doors, cupboards, drawers)
  • please
  • shoes
  • socks

Her new funny cute thing this month is:
If you ask her, “Who’s a cutie patutie?”
She will say very nonchalantly like it’s just no big deal, “Me!”

Her chores are:

  • putting her dirty clothes in her hamper
  • putting her bath toys (the turtles) away
  • washing her own hands and face with her wash cloth after meals and snacks (is pretty good, but still needs help getting all the stuff off)
  • handing Mommy the T.P., and flushing the toilet (potty training prep)
  • brushing her own teeth in the A.M. & P.M. (we still finish up “the right way” for her)
  • putting any shoes away in the shoe rack

She is such the big helper and we think she is just an amazing little person. We know it’s probably a lot for 17 month old, but she is super independent and the chores evolved from her wanting to do it herself.

NEEDING to vent.

It’s Gone! I’ve looked everywhere for the past three weeks. Church, cars, my entire house got turned upside down. Everywhere in between…. So I’m calling it. It’s lost for good and never coming back. I am so beyond bummed. My sling was literally my life saver. It was the best second set of hands ever. Kaylee has lived in this thing for over a year, and I was so looking forward to using it with Regan. Kaylee loved the sling and would often get it out of the diaper bag and bring it to me so I could wear her. Yes I still carried her in it baby belly and all. It holds up to 35 lbs. and she’s not even 19 lbs. I loved the color, the fabric, having a variety of carrying positions, everything about it. It was so nice being able to clean, cook, do laundry, use the bathroom, or hold her for long stretches of time without killing my arms or back. Everything takes at least twice as long when you only have one hand. And even if we had the $40 to spend, I’d be mad at having to spend it for something I should not have lost. Let’s face it $40 goes a long way when you are poor. And I’m one of those people who hates having to spend money over and over on the same thing (except food and diapers of course). I like getting the most bang for my hubbies hard earned money. It’s part of the getting to be a stay at home Mommy. OK there, I’m done! I’ll get over losing my spare hands eventually…. maybe.
