modesty

barbies 003

I got sick of naked barbies. And I saw somewhere online (it was awhile ago, and I don’t remember now) that this Mom had sharpied one piece swim suits on her daughters barbies. GENIUS! So I grabbed Kaylee’s 3 (at the time) barbies and went to town. She LOVED that they were always ready to swim.

Well there was a downside. The poor barbies ended up looking like they were victims of abuse. Look at the Green, Purple, and Jasmine dolls. The sharpie would SLOWLY rub off and give them “bruises”, and it would also wear off in . . . places . . . I was “fixing” suits more often than I’d like to.

So Yesterday Kaylee (She had fun telling me which color went to which doll.) and I pulled out the trusty stash of nail polish. I’ve been nail polishing more than just nails lately and LOVING it. Knobs, wall art, barbies….

I like that there are more colors, and that they are no longer naked. I am hoping that this solution lasts longer than the sharpie solution. It helps in teaching Kaylee about modesty when her barbies that she loves to play with are being modest too.

Sping Festival

Shannon got us tickets to the schools spring festival on Saturday. I was SO excited to see how Kaylee would do with the animals (since she’s afraid that they will eat her…). She was VERY excited about idea of a pony ride.

Regan wasn’t too thrilled when I let go to snap a quick photo.

Kaylee had mixed emotions about the ride, but did so much better than we had hoped for!

When they stopped I tried to get another one of Regan but he was DONE. He did enjoy it while I had a hand on him said, “yeehaw”.

Kaylee was SO excited about going into the pen for the petting zoo.

Until she was IN the pen.

One of the workers helped Regan navigate over to Jon and Kaylee after he was separated from them. I love his shirt. Makes me laugh.

We’ve been trying to gently help her get over her animal fears. She really has come a long way.

She said the goat was soft and nice. And was not upset that Daddy “helped” her pet an animal. She again surprised us with how well she did.

Aunt Shannon asking Kaylee which side she wanted her face paint done on.

Regan had not a clue what was going on. So I helped hold his head still.

I think he liked his UFO.

Our next big animal adventure will be the Zoo. Kaylee really wants to see the elephants, and ride the train.

Men’s Warehouse

We met Jack’ee and Jason at Men’s Warehouse so the boys could get measured for tuxes. We decided to just buy a tux for Regan as that is SO much cheaper than renting. The children had fun running around. And Kaylee’s flower girl dress has arrived. I am so excited to see the children all dressed up. And of course for the wedding itself.

Regan has been insisting on wearing his superhero handkerchief EVERYWHERE. I love it. Except Sunday’s. He gets bummed out that I don’t let him go to church with it on. I also love him coming up to us with it and saying, “I FLY!”

Aunt Jack’ee came to her rescue after I hurt her feeling by asking her to behave. She sometime thinks I am SUCH a mean Mama. You can see Jack’ee is giggling at Kaylee’s reaction to my scolding.

Super Regan was being SUPER helpful.

She was pleased that Jack’ee let her play with her “Rapunzel hair”.
