Zoo trip

This trip was with out porta potty incident. Which was nice. We visited the children’s section of the zoo this trip. Which was AWESOME. I love going to the zoo. I love that Shannon is sweet to haul us with her. It’s great fun.
These two were in the stroller long enough for the threat of going back in it if they ran off to work.
The children (Shannon and I did too) thought that the cow to milk was neat-o.
My sad attempt to get a picture of my two in their adoption shirts. Regan’s says Adoption Rocks with a guitar. His is sort of hard to see in pictures. Kaylee’s is easy to see in pictures.
Kaylee is still super afraid of animals. I was way impressed with her attitude in the petting zoo. “Mom, it was a little bit scary, so I just was a little bit brave.” I was SHOCKED when she pet one of the goats without any encouragement from me. She and Jon high fived about it later when she told him all about it.
This is what happens when I want a fast cute picture with my kiddos. ZERO cooperation. Guess they are more used to me behind the camera than in front of it with them… Shannon tried. Then we gave up.
Regan was glued to this little slide.
After the zoo we stopped by McDonald’s for lunch and more playing.
Our attempts at getting a photo of all the children did not go very well at all.
Contrary to the facial expressions in many of these photos we had a blast on this adventure.

hijacking a porter potty

Monday we took the children to the Zoo.
This visit the stroller was more for carting our supplies than children.
We did it all this visit. I especially enjoyed the reptile house.
So did Regan. Kid was fascinated.
The children oohed and ahhed at the condors. Those guys are massive.
Picnic lunch. Before ridding the zoo “train.”
On the train I had this nice couple take a few pictures of our first zoo train ride.
My camera scared them. 🙂
But it’s o.k. Any picture is better than no picture. Right?
Off to Sting Ray Bay.
Kaylee is doing amazing these last few weeks overcoming her fear of all living things.
She willingly and happily stuck her hand in the water to pet the sting rays. One even splashed us. Scared me, but Kaylee just laughed.
Regan got a bit wet in some unfortunate places at the bay. Ended up looking like some MAJOR pit sweat was happening.
To the carrousel. As you can see Regan was not pleased AT ALL to be on the carrousel.
It was such a super SHORT ride. The kids were all bummed out about how fast it went.

This is how Regan made it through the ride. He was the only one happy to get off the thing.
“Hey Cassie look at me for a picture.”
HAHAHA! She did have fun. Promise.
Then we hit up one of the splash pads to cool off.
They all had snacks for the drive home. They all had fun, and were worn out. And they needed to pee half way home. Poor Cassie was in tears. And when one says they need to go all suddenly realize that they need to goo too. In our desperation to find her (Cassie) a toilet we stumbled upon a porter potty. Shannon asked if we should use it. I said I would and that desperate times called for desperate measures.
Behold the hijacked potty. Where Cassie refused to go (held it until she got home), but Kaylee, and Nathan happily went. When I got back to the car after taking Kaylee, Rebekah was telling me ALL about the construction workers that drove by, and asking if we were going to get into trouble.  I told her they wouldn’t get mad a tiny children with overfull bladders.

Good times people. Good times. And thank Heaven for hand sanitizer!

Memorial Day Weekend

We had such a great weekend. I was sick the whole time. But didn’t feel that bad just a cough no fever or other symptoms. So I just powered though. “Power though” was my weekend mantra. I was glad I powered though. It really was a fun weekend.

We started off our busy weekend with a family trip to the zoo. This trip we made sure to see the big cats as requested by Kaylee and Nathan. Kaylee was my “navigator” sitting on the front of the stroller.

We also went to one of the playgrounds/splash pads they have in the zoo. These two cuties were on occasion freezing and needed a cuddled to warm up before going back to play.

Later that night we went to the Sapp’s house for a family BBQ. The children had a blast on the tramp and in the pool.

Sunday afternoon Jack’ee came over to visit, and do hair. My roots were in desperate need of bleaching! She also cut and highlighted Kaylee’s hair! Kaylee’s been BEGGING for a while. And Jon asked me if there was a good reason not to do it. I couldn’t think of any reason why not to let her get some VERY subtle highlights. So Jack’ee reluctantly foiled up her niece. You can’t hardly tell that there are highlights in her hair. Jack’ee did an AMAZING job. Kaylee was beyond thrilled at having matching hair with her Mama.

I also got to practice Jack’ee’s wedding hair too! So much fun. I should have taken a picture. Next time I will. I need LOTS more practice before I get all the kinks worked out and the DO is wedding worthy.

See our happy guy. He was So happy during Jack’ee’s visit. That is until he grabbed the flaming hot salon (heats to a bajillion degrees!) curling iron that was on to warm up.

It was HORRIBLE!!! So so so so so horrible. My poor baby! Please ignore my smile. I am not sure why I am smiling. I felt like Regan’s face inside. Jack’ee felt like it was all her fault. It wasn’t. We all felt terrible. Sad night.

Monday we went to the Jan Day house for some AWESOME deep fried chicken and swimming fun with cousins. Jan is Shannon’s MIL, and we are in her ward. So fun! She and her hubby are super nice. We love them, and are ever grateful to be invited to family functions.

After several hours of fun we (Jon, Josh, and myself) were dressed and ready to go home. The children were not.

Dwayne is such a tease. The children were giving me heart attacks trying to get back into the pool. Regan thought the mini dips were fun. Kaylee not so much.

Regan drenched his shoes while we were all laughing at Kaylee freaking out over her toes getting wet. And then pitched a major fit as we left anyway. Stinker. 😉

So um, I awesomely got walking pneumonia. Fun stuff. Good times. No. Not really though. What I thought was an after cold linger cough was not a linger cough. After coughing for about 10 days and my lungs feeling heavy and odd I was still fighting Jon about going to see the Dr. there was TOO much to do and I didn’t feel THAT bad.  Day 11 brought PAIN. It  hurt to breath. And Kaylee was complaining of another UTI. So I called the Dr. and got us appointments.  He took a look and a listen, and said, “sounds light walking pneumonia”. And then loaded me up with Rx’s. I got a major “I told you so” from Jon. 🙂

Then Kaylee and I went home to lay on the couch and feel miserable (you can find the three of us in this position most of the day still). Regan joined us with his burned hand, and Jon took a photo of his sicky ouchy family. We are all on the mend. Regan’s hand is healing up nicely, Kaylee is on different antibiotics to hopefully knock out this infection, and I am still using the inhaler “as needed for wheezing” as instructed by Dr. M, the pharmacy, and Rx. Makes laugh every time I see it.

Josh, “Ya. You have been wheezing a lot.”

Today I was feeling REALLY good. So I walked the children up to the library (10 min stroller walk) to get some movies and books. And also to just get out of the house. By the time I got home I thought I was going to die. Hahaha. I went straight for my inhaler when we walked in the house.

Jon, “You have pneumonia! You need to rest.”

I should really start listening to my hubby…
