Thanksgiving 2012

We hosted this year. It was fun. Lots of people and LOTS more food. Pictures are from Wed – Sat. I am so thankful for such an amazing loving family. I really LOVE that our parents get along, as well as all our siblings. It’s so nice. SO SO nice. In fact the children got a special surprise because all the grandparents arrived at our house at the same time as they caravan-ed. It was SO exciting for them/us.

We ended our long (but oh so fun) weekend by canning 100-115 lbs of apples. Made 28 quarts of apple pie filling, and then loads of apple sauce. to quote Regan, “Yummy in my tummy!”

It was a delish weekend.

Thanksgiving weekend 2011

A few days before Thanksgiving Jack’ee came over and helped me de-nastify the kitchen cupboards. She’s awesome like that.

ewwww…….

Found some new shelf paper that I love at the Dollar Tree (LOVE that place). It’s a fun splash of color in an expected place.

Papa and Yaiyai drove down for the weekend and Regan claimed Papa’s hat as soon as he arrived. It was nice having them here for our first AZ holiday.

Jon and I took advantage of my parents being here for some babysitting so we could hit up Ikea. (First time for both of us.) I can’t wait to go back. I loved it. Jon found a perfect Kaylee desk. She was SO excited when she saw it.

Thanksgiving day we headed to Jack’ee and Jason’s house to eat. They made an AMAZING meal.
Regan received his b-day gift. Jack’ee asked me what to get him. So I requested she get him his first train set (Ika) and he has played with it every day since.

Jack’ee got him extra cars to go with the starter set, and we are going to buy him more tracks as he gets older. Or you know the next time we got to Ikea.

They boys had fun playing trains after dinner.

The day after is our usual tree trimming day. I didn’t get around to it until after my parents left a few day later. Kaylee helped as per usual. She decided that the flowers looked better in my hair.

After we finished the tree we made our first AZ fort. (Rug from Ikea.) It was a lovely first holiday in our new home.

Thanksgiving 2010

Wednesday while Jon and I went to a movie with friends Kaylee threw a Kaylee fit. Papa and Sam where watching the children for us. My awesome Dad took pictures before moving her to the couch. (I so would have done the same!)

Apparently she got VERY mad when Sam couldn’t understand her whining fit demanding yogurt. And then when Sam and Dad FINALLY deciphered her tantrum, they had to break the news that there was no yogurt.

More unreasonable yelling and fit throwing ensued.

They finally got her to settle with eating a banana. And as soon as she finished it she curled up on the bar stool and passed out.

What a lovely way to start our Thanksgiving break. Meanwhile Jon and I had an awesome time out to the movies. (Harry Potter if you where wondering.)

She was MUCH better the next day. So excited to be with some of her favorite people. And SO excited for her Daddy made pie.

I made the turkey. It was awesomely falling off the bones when we removed it from the oven. SO yummy. This year was by far our smallest Thanksgiving EVER! It was still lovely.

We three girls went out shopping to hit some of the deals. Kaylee LOVES shopping. Mom even treated us to sushi! Kaylee is a big fan of shrimp.

The children had good times with Papa (no pictures since he was always behind the camera) and their Yaiyai/Babushka.

We ended our 5 day 4 night adventure by going to cousin Ben’s homecoming. It was SO wonderful to see him. I just wish my children were not so ridiculously crabby that day. It’s crazy how fast 2 years goes. Kaylee was 8 months old the last time we saw Ben. And now he’s home with a sweet accent.
