Grandpa’s Funeral

Jon's Grandfather's funeral was lovely. It was a LONG drive to get there, but we are so glad we went. It was so very nice to be able to be with family and remember such a great man. It was a happy sad family reunion.

Jon's Grandpa was a Marine. It was awesome to see uniformed Marine's there and see them show their respect for a fellow Marine.

The following day we headed back south to spend some time with the southern Utah family. We played lots of Canasta. I cannot think of Grandpa without thinking of canasta. It was a favorite of his, and so we play. Plus it's a wicked fun game.

248Aunt Shelly taught Kaylee how to make duck lips from Pringles. I love her cross eyed face as she tries to look at it.

All in all it was just a lovely trip.

Heaton Reunion

So about a year ago Jon had the awesome idea that we should have a reunion after his parents got home. It took that long to plan all the details, and was SO AWESOME! Jon’s oldest brother Josh has an awesome friend who’s family has a cabin in Show Low. And what they call a cabin we call and I will quote Kaylee, “The really really big giant house castle.” Man was that house big. It comfortably fit us all. Which is saying tons. There were 15 adults and 16 children 8yrs and younger. Yup 31 people and not feeling squished when everyone was inside. BIG HOUSE!

We made a craptastic piƱata for the children. They did some awesome decorating on it before bashing it to pieces.

My all time FAVORITE picture of our trip is “drunk” Regan. Cracks me up every time I see it.

We of course took lots of group and individual family photos. Not too shabby for 31 people on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Thank you mister tripod! This was day one attempting to do some new photos for us. The children just were not feeling it.

This was attempt number 2. It went a tad better.

Jon and I decided to get silly. He was mostly trying to help me keep my cool during the situation. The children were just not wanting Mama to have a nice new everyone looking and smiling at the camera photo. Oh, well………..

Then we went and saw Jack’ee. She chopped mine and Kaylee’s hair. She also made us the most delish red velvet cake, and refused to let me get a picture of her. Kaylee and I are LOVING our new summer hair.

We had SO much fun visiting with everyone, and introducing Regan to family. He (we) had SO much fun visiting Grandma and Grandad Sapp. And we enjoyed delish party leftovers on our way home. Thanks Deb and Lauren for the yummyness! And a HUGE thanks you to Aunt Deb for mailing us back my Dad’s camera (that he foolishly trusted us with…. never again though…) that we left. (Ya, we are SO awesome!)
