Memorial Day Weekend

We had such a great weekend. I was sick the whole time. But didn’t feel that bad just a cough no fever or other symptoms. So I just powered though. “Power though” was my weekend mantra. I was glad I powered though. It really was a fun weekend.

We started off our busy weekend with a family trip to the zoo. This trip we made sure to see the big cats as requested by Kaylee and Nathan. Kaylee was my “navigator” sitting on the front of the stroller.

We also went to one of the playgrounds/splash pads they have in the zoo. These two cuties were on occasion freezing and needed a cuddled to warm up before going back to play.

Later that night we went to the Sapp’s house for a family BBQ. The children had a blast on the tramp and in the pool.

Sunday afternoon Jack’ee came over to visit, and do hair. My roots were in desperate need of bleaching! She also cut and highlighted Kaylee’s hair! Kaylee’s been BEGGING for a while. And Jon asked me if there was a good reason not to do it. I couldn’t think of any reason why not to let her get some VERY subtle highlights. So Jack’ee reluctantly foiled up her niece. You can’t hardly tell that there are highlights in her hair. Jack’ee did an AMAZING job. Kaylee was beyond thrilled at having matching hair with her Mama.

I also got to practice Jack’ee’s wedding hair too! So much fun. I should have taken a picture. Next time I will. I need LOTS more practice before I get all the kinks worked out and the DO is wedding worthy.

See our happy guy. He was So happy during Jack’ee’s visit. That is until he grabbed the flaming hot salon (heats to a bajillion degrees!) curling iron that was on to warm up.

It was HORRIBLE!!! So so so so so horrible. My poor baby! Please ignore my smile. I am not sure why I am smiling. I felt like Regan’s face inside. Jack’ee felt like it was all her fault. It wasn’t. We all felt terrible. Sad night.

Monday we went to the Jan Day house for some AWESOME deep fried chicken and swimming fun with cousins. Jan is Shannon’s MIL, and we are in her ward. So fun! She and her hubby are super nice. We love them, and are ever grateful to be invited to family functions.

After several hours of fun we (Jon, Josh, and myself) were dressed and ready to go home. The children were not.

Dwayne is such a tease. The children were giving me heart attacks trying to get back into the pool. Regan thought the mini dips were fun. Kaylee not so much.

Regan drenched his shoes while we were all laughing at Kaylee freaking out over her toes getting wet. And then pitched a major fit as we left anyway. Stinker. 😉

So um, I awesomely got walking pneumonia. Fun stuff. Good times. No. Not really though. What I thought was an after cold linger cough was not a linger cough. After coughing for about 10 days and my lungs feeling heavy and odd I was still fighting Jon about going to see the Dr. there was TOO much to do and I didn’t feel THAT bad.  Day 11 brought PAIN. It  hurt to breath. And Kaylee was complaining of another UTI. So I called the Dr. and got us appointments.  He took a look and a listen, and said, “sounds light walking pneumonia”. And then loaded me up with Rx’s. I got a major “I told you so” from Jon. 🙂

Then Kaylee and I went home to lay on the couch and feel miserable (you can find the three of us in this position most of the day still). Regan joined us with his burned hand, and Jon took a photo of his sicky ouchy family. We are all on the mend. Regan’s hand is healing up nicely, Kaylee is on different antibiotics to hopefully knock out this infection, and I am still using the inhaler “as needed for wheezing” as instructed by Dr. M, the pharmacy, and Rx. Makes laugh every time I see it.

Josh, “Ya. You have been wheezing a lot.”

Today I was feeling REALLY good. So I walked the children up to the library (10 min stroller walk) to get some movies and books. And also to just get out of the house. By the time I got home I thought I was going to die. Hahaha. I went straight for my inhaler when we walked in the house.

Jon, “You have pneumonia! You need to rest.”

I should really start listening to my hubby…

Father’s and Sons

On May 5th Jon and Josh took Regan to his second Father’s and sons. Regan is going to start thinking that Father’s and sons is a Daddy camp-out with whatever man relative is around. I sort of love that. I love that we have such a close awesome family. (And/or Josh really didn’t want to have a girls night with me and Kaylee….)

We bought a new tent for the occasion. and new air beds. I am excited for me and Kaylee to go camping (with boys) and use our new toy.

Next year I will have to remind Jon to ask someone to get a photo of him and Regan together. The boys had a blast. I am excited that Jon likes to take Regan to these things. It’s so fun have set Boy time which give me and Kaylee set girl time.

Mother’s Day

The children spent most of the day in a half comatose state watching t.v on the couch.
Notice they both have puke buckets nearby. Yup. They got the stomach flu or something nasty on Mother’s Day. So I went to church alone while Jon was on sicky duty. He cleaned lots of puke.
Jon made me a yummy dinner. It was SO nice not to have to cook or clean. Well clean food/dishes anyway. I did break out my trusty Mean Green. It’s just not Mother’s Day with out having to clean bodily fluids.  My very first Mother’s Day had me running out of sacrament meeting to change/clean an amazing amount of newborn Kaylee spit-up. We may as well call that puke right? Good times. 🙂

Meanwhile some very AWESOME things happened Mother’s Day weekend. This this hot mess of crap on my counter is GONE. As Shannon would say, “It looks like your groceries puked all over your counter.” Ya. Well no more! Couldn’t be happier about it. See this hot mess has been the pantry for the last Seven months. Far too long!

See when the boys started doing demo I got a phone call from Jon asking if I would like them to build me a pantry where the weird microwave cubby hole was. Um… YES PLEASE! He didn’t really need to ask. I just think he wanted me excited about having a pantry IN the kitchen and NOT in the hallway.

Here are a few demo pictures. There was electrical, moving doors, drywall……. It took some doing to make that hole pantry sized.

If you look close you can see the master bathroom toilet through the pantry. The wall was all closed up and the drywall guy did such a great job by the time I arrived in AZ. You seriously cannot tell that there ever was a door on the other side. See there was a in master linen closet. So the boys just reversed the whole shabang (because it was a space I really didn’t/don’t need) to make the pantry. Clever boys!

So seven months later. They needed a bit of a break. They did a TON of demo and repair. A TON! They decided it was time. Time to finish the pantry. It took lots of head scratching and math to figure out the odd angle that wasn’t even as they measured up the wall.

But once all the math and cuts were made it went CRAZY fast.

It was definitely a two man job. They had to stack the boards to get them all in. So one would hold the stack up while the other nailed in the braces. Then they would drop a shelf and do it all again.

But good grief isn’t it lovely?!?! It’s HUGE! I have so much empty space. I need to get all sorts of organizers for it to keep it easy to find things and make it pretty. Right now I just have everything shoved in there. I was just SO SO SO happy to clear off my counter.

Such a nice change. My kitchen feel so much bigger now. I LOVE IT! We are slowly but surely checking off our super humungo home improvement list.
