Before and After: Playroom

Sad blurry photos curtsey of Jon’s old phone. (I had the camera in UT.)

2011-09-17_14-58-12_828This space is just off the living room. It used to be a sun room, that the previous owners closed in and made part of the main house.

2011-09-17_14-58-00_888The “extra” space is one of the things that I LOVED about this house. I am a no toys in rooms person. So having a place in the main part of the house, but that wasn’t in the living room was peachy.

2011-11-08_18-43-59_912The bit of blue wall you see is the living room wall. And we of course have a picture of Dwayne putting in the new stank free flooring.

2011-10-22_11-45-46_774A picture of the old pee soaked stinky floor. You can also see how the space is divided while being one room.

Jon and I went to Ikea and bought some fun stuff to add color, and organization to the playroom. Kaylee was in her ORANGE phase. When we found this cute orange desk we didn’t hesitate to bring it home.

2012-01-07_11-52-54_236This is what the playroom looks like on any given day. Toy bins hanging out and empty. The children playing.

2011-09-17_14-58-24_261The previous owners had their entertainment center in this space. The living room was empty when we walked though, so I am not sure if maybe they used the living room space as a more formal space……

068The horse gets moved around. He is usually on the opposite side of the playroom across from the bookshelf. BUT sometimes we have Uncles who need a desk spot so Pinto gets moved. 😉  He’s cool with it. So are the children.

070The opposite side of the room is the “class room” for joy school.

Under the window is Pinto’s usual home.

It’s a small “class room” for small little people, but it works.

What I love most about the space is that I can be in the living room or kitchen, and still be right with the children. They are not in another room in another part of the house. It makes refereeing the inevitable disputes easier.

Depot of homes.

I did help aside from taking photos. Just wanted to throw that out there.

IMG_8234 IMG_8235Went with the lady’s to pick out some baseboard and crown molding for the Joshily house.  Got asked for directions to the bathroom by some guy who though I worked there because I was pushing a lumber cart.  Really?!

Guy: Excuse me. Where’s your bathrooms?

Me: I don’t know, I don’t work here……

Guy: Oh, I thought you did since your pushing that thing.

Me: Nope. Just buying lumber.

Guy looks me up and down: Good luck with that.

I was wearing paint stained cloths and sandals. Pretty sure home depot employees are not allowed to wear sandals to work.  Plus they all have those ORANGE aprons.

I did find out where the bathrooms where located later that shopping trip through.

Reganism. The one about a loophole

I SO HUNGRY!!!

He says (YELLS) this at me every few seconds while I am getting his lunch. I was also hearing the impatience of Kaylee and Emilo.Kaylee was asking for the time literally every minute wondering if it was lunch time yet. And Emilo was pulling on my pants yelling.

Then Jon called about Kaylee’s immunization records not being legible enough for the school and could I please call the Dr., and have him fax it over and here is all the info to do that, and I have three kids trying to climb up demanding to be fed. RIGHT.THIS.SECOND!

SO, trying to keep my cool with the children I ended up being less than patient with Jon. Telling him to just email me because the children were revolting, and I hung up. It was not one of my finer lunch time moments.

I had all three plates on the table with drinks in less than five minutes! It felt like MUCH longer. Kaylee and Emilo all but inhaled their food. Regan decided that he didn’t even want to try it. “It’s sooo gross an yucky.”  What the…?!?!?

We do not wast food in this house if it can be helped. Leftovers? LOVE.THEM! My children know if they don’t eat what’s given them at meal time they will see that meal at snack time, the next meal, and so forth until they eat it. (Unless it’s cereal. Can’t really save cereal…. Eeeww.)

Mean? Maybe. Meanwhile they are not picky eaters. They will try anything once. I do not force feed them things they genuinely don’t care for. Like when I sautee mushrooms and onions for burgers or spaghetti Regan gets Kaylee’s onions, and she gets his mushrooms. Regan doesn’t care for mushrooms, and since he HAS tried them several times I don’t push the issue. Same for Kaylee with onions.

IMG_8263So I told him he couldn’t leave the table until he took one bite of his burrito, and one of his pineapple. Two of his favorite things. The three of us who where finished headed to the couch to read books, and Regan got real quite. And I knew, just knew he had fallen asleep.

So I grabbed the camera and went to take pictures of him before carrying him to bed. And that is how Regan stumbled into the loophole of not being allowed to leave the table without taking some bites.

He happily ate it for lunch the next day. I did feed him other food in between since it appears the boy is in the sleepy phase of a growth spurt. I am not a total meanie.
