Reganism. The one about a loophole

I SO HUNGRY!!!

He says (YELLS) this at me every few seconds while I am getting his lunch. I was also hearing the impatience of Kaylee and Emilo.Kaylee was asking for the time literally every minute wondering if it was lunch time yet. And Emilo was pulling on my pants yelling.

Then Jon called about Kaylee’s immunization records not being legible enough for the school and could I please call the Dr., and have him fax it over and here is all the info to do that, and I have three kids trying to climb up demanding to be fed. RIGHT.THIS.SECOND!

SO, trying to keep my cool with the children I ended up being less than patient with Jon. Telling him to just email me because the children were revolting, and I hung up. It was not one of my finer lunch time moments.

I had all three plates on the table with drinks in less than five minutes! It felt like MUCH longer. Kaylee and Emilo all but inhaled their food. Regan decided that he didn’t even want to try it. “It’s sooo gross an yucky.”  What the…?!?!?

We do not wast food in this house if it can be helped. Leftovers? LOVE.THEM! My children know if they don’t eat what’s given them at meal time they will see that meal at snack time, the next meal, and so forth until they eat it. (Unless it’s cereal. Can’t really save cereal…. Eeeww.)

Mean? Maybe. Meanwhile they are not picky eaters. They will try anything once. I do not force feed them things they genuinely don’t care for. Like when I sautee mushrooms and onions for burgers or spaghetti Regan gets Kaylee’s onions, and she gets his mushrooms. Regan doesn’t care for mushrooms, and since he HAS tried them several times I don’t push the issue. Same for Kaylee with onions.

IMG_8263So I told him he couldn’t leave the table until he took one bite of his burrito, and one of his pineapple. Two of his favorite things. The three of us who where finished headed to the couch to read books, and Regan got real quite. And I knew, just knew he had fallen asleep.

So I grabbed the camera and went to take pictures of him before carrying him to bed. And that is how Regan stumbled into the loophole of not being allowed to leave the table without taking some bites.

He happily ate it for lunch the next day. I did feed him other food in between since it appears the boy is in the sleepy phase of a growth spurt. I am not a total meanie.
