Laundry room demo

project #5

The laundry was partially sunken and tiled via the flippers who the previous owner bought the house from. He framed out and leveled the floor. However since we want to tile we needed to tear out all the old so we could cement fill in the sunken bit and level it for future tiling.

We are paying a cement guy to do the pour. Multi level floor space will be no more. Yay.

New house project #2

Asbestos removal. As a home owner we can legally do the removal ourselves. Meaning 80% Janice 20% Jon. I have more free hours while the kids are at school and Jon is at work. It’s just how the demo is going to go. I triple layered all the thick plastic and taped everything off extra. And did the same for disposal. Full hazmat bunny suit and full face respirator. It was hot, hot, dirty work. I nearly passed out one of the evenings I was working solo. It was bad. BUT not one bit of asbestos remains in the house and not one bit got into public air. OR in us. BOOM! Prep and clean up was intense. Totally worth it.

The kitchen didn’t have any popcorn asbestos so we used it as a clean storage space for all our tools.
Sending proof of life to Jon and our friend after a solo scrape session.
My tank is LIGHT grey. By the time I finished I could literally wring it out. Gross. But look at those bare ceilings!

Asbestos free is the way to be!
