a (play) date

During our morning walk a play date was planned. Kaylee looks forward to seeing Carter and his baby every morning on our walk. So having him come over to play was gravy. Ridiculous amounts of fun, and only a few small fits about sharing. (Kaylee loves her friends, but has a few toys that she has a hard time sharing.) Then after these two were done playing in the sprinklers and on the slide we (kind of sort of) watched Nemo with Nemo.

Then us Mom’s made some yummy pizza. It was SO lovely having so much fun this morning. Kaylee got good and worn out with all her hard playing. She is napping!!! Come and play ANY time Carter. Oh before she went down for a nap she decided she didn’t like the outfit I picked for her (rude!, hehe) and so she stripped it off and pick out and put on this number. Nice. I asked her to strike a pose so I could take a picture. This is what she did. Funny girl.

Random side notes: Kaylee did not as usual flip out and hide (curls up into the fetal position in the stroller and screams in terror) from the dogs that came near. She even walked passed some VERY nice puppies just holding my hand! She was saying the whole time we were passing the puppies, “it’s all right, we almost done. nice doggies. it’s all right.” I feel like we are FINALLY making progress in that (Kaylee begin o.k. around animals) area of life.

We took Regan in for a walk in weight check yesterday. It wasn’t good, it turned into a visit with the Doc. 🙁 And he has his 9 month WCC tomorrow. So I’ll do an update on him after he gets his shots and new measurements………

Kaylee

I feel like I’ve been neglecting Kaylee because of all of Regan’s stuff. So here is a long rambling mini catch up of her cuteness. Kaylee has been extra delightful (normally is) lately. She is growing up too fast though, and I am having a LOVE/HATE relationship with that. Jon was holding her a few nights ago. She announced, “my turn!” after he handed Regan to me, and climbed onto his lap. He told her that he missed his baby girl and that she should stop growing up. I laughed, but totally agree. She is no longer using her little potty seat. Just sits herself on the toilet and hangs on. She no longer naps (so sad for me) unless she really really needs one. Which most days she really doesn’t and I got sick of hearing her throw fits for hours on end trying to get her to take her 1/2 hour nap. It just wasn’t worth it. Today (right now) is her first nap in a week. She loves helping to take care of Regan. And playing with him. She likes to tell me while they are playing and laughing that, “we playing mom!” She loves painting our nails (her Daddy loves her that much!), and is pretty good at it. She is always doing my hair. She gives us back rubs (so sweet). Kisses us better (I get kissed ALL the time). She reads us book, and sings and dances to entertain us. She is always so concerned when she sees that someone is sad or crying saying, “oh no baby (he, she) so sad. we needa fix it.” She is always making us laugh at the funny things she does and says. Like when we are walking and she decides she needs to pee. I’ll get her out and help her squat and she makes a realistic peeing noise then says she’s all done. It never fails to make us (walking gals) laugh, and she usually does have to pee and will pee as soon as we get home. She is still sassy (yells defiantly “no thank you!” Did you know that was possible? It is.) But also so very sweet telling us every night after she says her prayer (doesn’t need help, and blesses the whole family), “o.k., luv you, sleep so good!”

The trouble with Regan…..

(An oldie, but goodie picture of the children. Kaylee likes to climb in and entertain Regan while he waits for me to fetch him. She is so good at buying me a few minutes to finish up whatever. He loves when she climbs into his crib. He thinks it’s just ever so funny.)

We wish we knew the trouble with Regan. He is a mystery. The new diet cleared up his skin just beautifully. However he is still having chronic diarrhea. (8 months people!) Which means his bum is constantly sore, and worse that he is not absorbing nutrients. Last month when we took him in he weighed 14.7 lbs. Yesterday he weighed 14.4 lbs. NOT GOOD! So I now have the joy and pleasure of collecting stool samples to send off for testing. They can only do testing on solid BM’s so that means it will take several days (he rarely has solid BM’s) to fill up the very little vile to send to the lab. So ya, we have a bio hazard bag in the out fridge to keep the stools fresh. Awesome. My Friend Misty was laughing on our walk this morning because she knows I’m a bit of a germaphobe. And an added bonus of fun is that as soon as I do collect enough stools to fill the vile I am to stop breast feeding and switch to the special already partially digested hypo allergenic formula. I will be on very good terms with my pump. The Doctor wants me to keep up my supply in case Regan refuses to eat the formula, or in case the formula doesn’t work. If the formula doesn’t do all that is promised we will have to take Mister Man to a specialist to get his insides scoped and biopsied. NOT fun. So we have a follow up appointment in a couple of weeks to see where we stand, and what needs to happen next. Regan has NEVER liked pacifiers let alone bottles. This should be fun……. Meanwhile he is JUST so happy.

He was playing one minute, then he was passed out next to his toys. He is all boy. Already likes to scratch himself. hmmmmmmmm.
