15.9 lbs

(Regan snuggling his Babushka on her hammock)

Well our second visit with Dr. K (Regan’s G.I. Dr.) went much better than the first. We were more relaxed for this appointment. (Negative CF test will do that.) My Mom had the day off so she met us there. The children were SO excited to see her. And Dr. K was surprised to see her. (They know each other as my Mom is an interpreter for IHC and in his office often.) We are pretty sure that he didn’t quite believe that Mom is my Mom. It gave us all a good laugh. (Especially Jon, who knows just how Dr. K felt looking back and forth at me and Mom. Jon’s pretty sure adoption entered the thought process.) Dr. K even said, “Morena I thought you just had a son?” Who he has met and knows is all dark like Mom. Haha. Good times.

Regan has gained about a pound in the last three months. We are VERY happy that he has not lost any more weight since switching him to formula. He is still have BV so Dr. K is having us put him on an even more broken down formula. (That you cannot buy in stores. We have an Rx.) We have another follow up appointment in a month to weigh him and talk about how he is doing on the newest formula. Dr. K mentioned that this new stuff my cause constipation. (Which he also said about the last stuff, but wouldn’t that be an interesting change.) We are trying very hard to avoid the scope and biopsy.

After the appointment we headed over to my parents house to change clothes and drop off the children. Jon and I planned on spending a couple hours doing my family name Sealings at the temple. Just before getting in the car Jon decided to look and see when our recommends expire. Well they expired in July! Guess we’ve been a bit preoccupied with Regan… So we will be resolving that situation ASAP! We felt pretty much the opposite of awesome, but grateful that we looked before driving across town. (It would have been SO embarrassing!) We were both bummed that we couldn’t go. This was our first St. George trip that we have had time and a sitter. So we will just try again. Hopefully SOON!

This trip was fun in that the children got to have Yiayai/Babushka and Papa time. My parents were very excited to hear all of Regan’s new words. He says:

Mama
Dada
Yaiyia (too Mom’s horror. But he hears Kaylee say it, soooo oh well.)
Papa (too Dad’s delight)
and tries REAL hard to say Babushka. But that’s a hard one and the kid is only 10 months old! So he says Bab. It’s pretty darn cute.

We will be working on getting him to say:
Kaylee, Grandma, & Grandpa (they will be home before we know it!)

He LOVES to chatter ALL the time. And is picking up words like the little sponge he is! Speaking of picking up things. He is that child that EVERYTHING goes straight in his mouth. We know that this is normal, but Kaylee spoiled us. She NEVER put things in her mouth, but would bring us the tiny bits of whatever. And since Regan has Kaylee who leaves bits of stuff trailing behind her he has LOTS of stuff to choose from. Paper seams to be the favorite. These two are so very much the opposite in every way. But we LOVE IT! Regan really is such a boy.

Regan James 10 months old

(The big one above shows off his teeth. Sharp little buggers.)

My word the last couple of months have just flown by. I sort of felt like I should just move into the peds office. But really life is SO good. Even with chronic BV. Seriously it could be SO much worse. And we know this. And we are VERY grateful that it’s not worse. Mister Man is AMAZING. He is a completely different child the last 3 weeks.

Guess he wasn’t so much a content baby as he was an anemic baby with NO calories to spare. Just what happens when EVERYTHING runs right through you. Don’t get me wrong he is a happy content little guy, but wowza he’s got energy now. Iron supplements + partially digested food = lots of calories to burn. Bug is crawling FAST, pulling up and walking along furniture, and he stood all by himself in the tub last night! AWESOME! His little personality is really starting to shine.

He is still constantly starving. He drinks (by drink I mean sucks down in less than 5 min.) 8 oz. every 4 hours + he is doing a few solid feedings a day. And he gets Regan friendly (took a while to find) snacks.

The new formula has cut his BV episodes in half! He is only having about 4 explosions of BV a day now. Which means that on occasion we change a diaper because it’s full of pee! (Still getting used to that.) It also means his diaper rash is not quite as bad. Meaning there are more days that his bum is not bleeding than is bleeding. YEA!

In the last 10 months we have gone through more tubs/tubes of shtuff for his tushie than I can even imagine. We easily blow through a 4 oz tube in 2-3 days. We cake it on THICK and change up what we use on him. I swear his skin gets used to the stuff and stops working, so we alternate what we use. And we have used everything (and then some) that has been suggested by Dr’s/Fam/Friends. His bum and my hair dryer are on intimate terms.

He has the funniest little grunt/yell/growl thing he does that makes me laugh. It just SOUNDS Manley. He sticks his tongue out in serious concentration (like his Daddy) when he crawls SUPA fast. He loves to clap, “read” books and laugh. He is one super happy loving little boy. And in 2 months he will be ONE! Eeekkk!

It was maybe too quiet.

She was just right next to me sitting IN her toy tub. Emptied out first. So I decided to lean over and see just what was needing SUCH concentration. Since the camera was right next to me I clicked away.

She herd the camera so she looked up and shot me a cheesy. How thoughtful.

Yup, she’s peeling the paper off her crayon(s). And no she is not wearing any pants. I’ve decided not to ask since I know what she will say. She would just say very nonchalantly, “I fixing it.” In Kaylee’s world paper does NOT belong on crayons. I have spent may quiet hours (yes hours) helping her “fix” her crayons. She is VERY particular when it come to tactile sensations. She is growing out of her aversions. Earlier she was (shockingly) playing with some stickers. And band-aids and tape are o.k.ish now. It’s been a work in progress. Someday (hopefully before schooling) she will be o.k. with papered crayons.

Oh, and lately I’ve been telling her, “Be careful with that (insert injured body part here) Mommy and Daddy made it from scratch.” In a vain hope to get her to pay attention and avoid bodily harm. But alas she is a mini me in that regard. So now Miss has been finishing my sentence, or telling me, “careful mommy daddy scratch” when I hurt myself. She also says it to Regan when he has the rare (there is hope for the boy) bonk occur.

And a one last Kayleeism for your entertainment. She has taken to interrupting me during triple naming. I’ve only managed to get out the Kaylee Isabella before she VERY quickly says, “SHHhhh. It’s quiet time. shh.” Which never fails to make me laugh. Girl KNOWS how to push my buttons, but also knows how to VERY efficiently defuse the angry Mommy bomb.

We sure love our little Miss and her strange (but delightful) ways.
