Moving day and a Kayleeism

So this is moving day. I woke up early to get last minute stuff done and make sure we got to the airport in time.

We were pretty lucky that Dwayne was able to fly us. I’m not gonna lie pulling up to the gate, walking to the plane and taking off is the ONLY way to fly. It was SO easy and SO much nicer than driving 7 hours with the children behind the moving van/Jon. (Actually because of weather it took him 11 hours.)

We were late. Give you one guess why….

“Mom Regan James Heaton opened your rojo lipstick. It’s o.k. I took it away from him and put it away. I the best helper huh Mama?!”

So that happened. Awesome huh? (It’s not easy to scrub red lip gloss off skin with baby wipes. Really needed a thick face towel with lots of soap which was all packed….)

The children were thrilled to see Jon. Here is where we (Dwayne) punched in the code to get to the plane.

There was a blizzard blowing in. Sooooo windy. Jon was trying to make a wind break for Regan

Getting into the plane.

She was so excited that she buckled herself in.

My boys. This was taken right before Jon left. And right before Regan realized that his daddy was not coming with him. He was not pleased. Not at all.

She quickly got over that fact that she needed to be in her car seat.

So we could hear/talk to Dwayne. Doesn’t she look cute in her headset?

Regan passed out about 10-15 minutes into the 2 hour flight. He would wake up and give me crusties whenever we hit turbulence. Lots at first due to the storm that was blowing in. He woke up as we were descending to land. He did great. SO awesome for his first flight.

Had to get a picture of our pilot/bro-in-law/Dwayne doing his thing.

All the turbulence was upsetting Kaylee’s (recently recovered from the stomach ick) tummy. She requested (but never actually used) a puke bag.

Dwayne came prepared with grocery bags for the kids. He said that the regular puke bags just wouldn’t work. The bag gave Kaylee much comfort.

She was pretty miserable for a while before she passed out.

But she too slept for most of the flight.

My view out the window was pretty amazing. We also flew OVER another small plane which was just neat.

Kids loaded into the truck ready to make the 5-10 minute drive to the Day house. Kaylee said flying was “AWESOME!” And that she was ready to do it again. Regan seemed indifferent when asked about it.

Dwayne just pushed the plane back into it’s hanger and then we headed home for lunch. Not a bad way to start a new adventure in a new state.

Halloween 2011

So this year we (me and the children) drove up north to have Halloween with the Lefevre’s. We had SO much fun, but really missed Jon.

Matt and Angie’s ward threw an awesome party that Matt and I took all the children too. The following are pictures from the party.

I misplaced my camera and so I don’t have any pictures of the children going door to door the night of. Bums me out since it was their first door to door treating experience.

Our little Vampire

Kaylee the Lady Bug and Cylest the witch.

Kaylee trying to decide IF she wanted her face painted.

She decided that she did. Although she looked scared the whole time.

Then it was time for Witches brew with “brains.”

There was a beautiful mermaid. Kaylee was speechless.

So we HAD to get a picture.

Regan had so much fun riding my hip all night. This was how happy he was when I let him down for the magic show.

Kaylee thought the magic show was awesome.

And it really really was.

Loved that these two held hands the whole time.

Back at the house the boys had a jam session.

Matt joined them.

Cylest loves to dress Kaylee up. Hair make-up and all. Kaylee loves it too.

Kaylee tried riding a scooter for the first time.

Matt helped her out after a fall.

Kaylee thought that driving home in a blizzard was neat.

Regan was feeling her excitement.

So clearly I found/remembered were I put my camera. I was SO happy about it!

The blizzard added an extra hour to the drive home. I asked Kaylee several times if she wanted a potty break. She just kept telling me to keep driving. So we did. 5 hours latter we were home.

It was a great mini vacation for us. It’s always fun being with the LeFevre’s and it was a much needed change of pace from packing house.

Before and After: Livingroom

Our TINY but suitable living room. This is unfortunately the only pre-purchase photo we have. We painted and put up sheers. Then this last summer we ripped out the old nasty carpet and put in the new floor.

We had our layout the same as they did for the first couple of years. Then after Kaylee was born I MADE Jon help me change the layout. He didn’t like it, but I did.

So it stayed like this last summer. Our poor sectional was literally falling apart. So we tossed half of it while I hunted down a good deal on our leather set.

Then Jon convinced me to try something new. So the layout changed again.

Those are the former brown doors. They just look better white.

This is looking in from the hall.

This was my toy solution. A bookshelf with plastic bins. It worked for the space and clean up was super easy. Grab a bin and fill it up toss it on a shelf. DONE. I really like having the main play area in the main part of the house. I feel more like I am involved with playtime when we are all in the same space.

I actually learned to like this layout. It took away some play space, but it flowed much better.
