Cousin time.

Last night I got a phone call from Rebekah asking if she could borrow my library card. She evidently has a book report due on Friday, and her library didn’t have the books she needed.

So we got to see cousins briefly when the gang came over to grab the card. I gave them money to pay a fine, and am happy that got taken care of. 🙂

Then Shannon said they were headed to the park after the library, and we should go too.

So Jon and I loaded the kids up and went. Regan insisted on sleeping in his swimsuit the night before, and wore it all day. I think he is ready for pool time.

I am that Mom who takes the kids the park in jammies. It was a jammie clean the house kind of day, and I wasn’t about to change and add to my laundry. Good thing Shannon, Jon and the kids don’t care how I look.

The bicycle brigade. It was Kaylee’s first time doing long stretches of sidewalk riding. She LOVED it, and can’t wait to go practice more.

This park has a circular sidewalk around the playground. the kids just did loop after loop.

Regan needs some wheels. He ran behind the kids the whole time making engine sounds. Needless to say the kids had fun with their cousins, and got worn out for bedtime.

School uniforms

We ordered some school uniforms for Kaylee a few days ago. She and I have been epically excited about their arrival. Well the UPS truck pulled up to our house today with a box for little miss. “Hold on Mom. I’ll go get the scissors.”
“Hold on Kaylee I’ll get the camera.”

Man her happy dance was fantastic. This kid has been begging to go to Kindergarten for the last couple years. And everyday since her enrollment screening she asks if it’s time to go to kindergarten. I think she and I will make a countdown chain.

I imagine that if I ever had a pile of money to swim in, I’d act like Kaylee did swimming through her uniforms! She was thrilled!

She was trying to decide what to try on first.

I got her 6 shirts, 4 pants, 2 scooters, 4 shorts, and a lightweight sweater to wear if she gets chilly in class.

We aren’t really a tuck in your shirt family. Unless it’s Sunday. So when I was tucking in her shirt she started laughing. “Mom, I look like Emilio!” Emilio wears onesis and pants.

I got her one size too big. She has plenty of room to grow. She is likely going to be wearing most of this stuff for first grade as well.

Scooters are the skirt with the built in shorts. I had to explain the difference between skort and scooter to Jon. So if you wondered, now you know.

The shorts and pants come with the button hole elastic. Which is a life saver when you have skinny kids. I was able to find and order slim cut pants and shorts, but still had to tighten the waist a whole lot.

Sadly the scooters don’t have an adjustable waist. I’m gonna have to do some sewing. “Kaylee lean against the couch and don’t move for this picture. I don’t want your skirt to fall down.”

“Great idea Mom!”

I’m probably going to get a few more things, but that will be this winter. Thick leggings, and stuff like that.

We are narrowing down on a backpack. Good grief I know I’m going to be sad her first day of school when she walks away from me, but right now her excitement is way TOO contagious!

I am so happy Kaylee got into this charter school. Best part is siblings automatically get a seat at the school. So Regan will be going there without having to add his name to the lottery! YEA!

Before and After: Playroom

This space is just off the living room. It used to be a sun room, that the previous owners closed in and made part of the main house.

The “extra” space is one of the things that I LOVED about this house. I am a no toys in rooms person. So having a place in the main part of the house, but that wasn’t in the living room was peachy.

The bit of blue wall you see is the living room wall. And we of course have a picture of Dwayne putting in the new stank free flooring.

Jon and I went to Ikea and bought some fun stuff to add color, and organization to the playroom. Kaylee was in her ORANGE phase. When we found this cute orange desk we didn’t hesitate to bring it home.

This is what the playroom looks like on any given day. Toy bins hanging out and empty. The children playing.

The previous owners had their entertainment center in this space. The living room was empty when we walked though, so I am not sure if maybe they used the living room space as a more formal space……

The horse gets moved around. He is usually on the opposite side of the playroom across from the bookshelf. BUT sometimes we have Uncles who need a desk spot so Pinto gets moved. 😉 He’s cool with it. So are the children.

The opposite side of the room is the “class room” for joy school.

Under the window is Pinto’s usual home.

It’s a small “class room” for small little people, but it works.

What I love most about the space is that I can be in the living room or kitchen, and still be right with the children. They are not in another room in another part of the house. It makes refereeing the inevitable disputes easier.
