Before and After: Master

The master bedroom was… interesting.

2011-09-17_14-59-35_628See when you have a kid who has a major house dust allergy, things like trendy nightstand pendent chandelier things are on the list of decor that is the enemy. It’s like asking for EXTRA things to dust. Who would want that?

Our niece Rebekah thought they were so cool and looked like earrings. She was bummed when we put in the ever popular ceiling mounted “boob” lights. But hey, less to dust. That is our motto around here.

2011-09-17_15-00-22_568This giant mirror got framed out an relocated into the hall bathroom. And of course we painted the white walls.

2011-09-17_15-39-25_738This closet got flipped to the other side of the wall and is now the kitchen pantry. The doors knocking into each other were I am told obnoxious.

IMG_9022The drywall guy did an awesome job with this giant patch job.

782307410_2777626346_0My sister and Jason came and helped me paint the master. They work the graveyard shift, and came over early in the morning right after work to get it done. By 12:30pm they were quite slap happy, and I sent them home.

IMG_9019Slap happy Jason removed (to prime/paint) the old-ugly-wasn’t-going-to-replace-it because-it-was-still-in-fine-working-order light, and broke it. No one was sad about it.

pantry 058There was an unbelievably tetanus shot looking medicine cabinet here. We tossed it, and were left with a much nicer looking hole.

pantry 063So we (Jon) filled it in, and framed it out.

IMG_9020Pretend I keep pretty things here. Okay.

IMG_9021I’ve got these plant shelves in every.single.room of the house. I wish I didn’t, they are a pain in my dusting tukkis.  But they are nice to put crap on…. It’s a love hate relationship.

IMG_9025See that armoire? That’s my closet. This is the first house we’ve lived in that the master only had one closet in. I don’t have many cloths so Jon get the “real” closet. He has almost three times as many clothes as I do. Work, church, regular….

IMG_9029Okay so we changed nearly everything about this room. We would like to eventually change out the sink, counter, and cabinets.

Saying goodbye

We had some good friends move away. It’s sad. My heart is sad for these two little girls. Kaylee and Noelle are true little girl besties.

IMG_8998We got to watch Clara and Noelle one last time this last Tuesday. These four get along and play so well together. I’m going to miss that.

IMG_9003Kaylee and Noelle wanted to make each other something “to remember each other forever, and ever.”

IMG_9005Kaylee knowing that yellow is one of Noelle’s favorite colors decided to make her a yellow and white bracelet. Noelle knowing that Kaylee loves all the colors requested supplies to make a rainbow bracelet. These two melt my heart with their sweet thoughtfulness.

IMG_9006They both did such a lovely job. I only helped with putting the fasteners on.

IMG_9007They hugged after exchanging the friendship bracelets and both at the same time said, “I love you.” Not going to lie, it brought a tear to my eyes.
