Independence

They grow up too fast. Lately they have been on an "I can make my own sandwich" kick. Which I have a love/hate relationship with. I love that they are asserting their independence, learning new skills and self sufficiency. I hate the mess. They haven't quite gotten to the clean up after you make food stage yet. Jam, almond butter, bread crumbs…. They are saving me no time or work by doing it themselves.

IMG_8837But man it is SO okay. The self confidence that shines on their little faces when they can make their own meal is priceless. IMG_8839 IMG_8844They had a good giggle fit that Mama wanted to take a photo of them eating their sandwiches. You would think they would be used to the random life moments I insist on capturing.

New toys for the bikes

I've been eyeing these for over a year. Jon finally convinced me to buy them Best.Decision.EVER! This was the best family bike ride ever. Last time we went around the block Regan was DONE half way and we all had to endure his "I can't do this." "I need help. "I'm too little." And he had to listen to a string of repeated encouragements from the three of us.

IMG_8807This was infinitely better. All smiles, no tears of frustration from newbies. This is what a family bike ride should be.IMG_8815

Sunday visitor

I find myself endless entertained by these two and their imaginative play. We had a nice Sunday afternoon visit with Becca and Josh. It was the first time she has been to our hose.

"Kaylee will you give me a tour of your house please?"

"Certainly. This is the living room, over here is the kitchen……"

Good grief. They couldn't possibly be any cuter.

IMG_8802There were mermaids, pirates, lost boys, and of course Peter Pan. I believe Regan was at one point Batman fighting the evil mermaids…

IMG_8803At one point Becca was officiating the wedding of Batman (Regan) to Aurora (Kaylee).  Good times had by all.
