Patio pour

These photo were taken over the course of a VERY long and painful 6 days. This project was started on day 4 of Kaylee's spring break 2014. So that means that the last two days of her break were spend watching us work. BUT It is SO nice to walk out to the garbage bins and work shop now. I cannot wait to build my table and pergola. SO excited!

We tend to do a lot of mid project thinking while swinging.

We decided that we needed a few extra hand for the day to get everything dug out and framed up.

I lifted/moved 8,000 lbs of concrete bags. SO sore. So happy. So worth it!

Trees!!!!

SOOOOOO very happy! Our trees were delivered. planted, fed, and staked this afternoon. I couldn't be more thrilled with our decision to have the nursery do the planting. The Tipu went in SO fast and easy. 1 guy 20 min. The Mesquite (which was getting planted near as possible to the old pine stump near the corner of the yard) was a beast to get in. It took 4 guys over and hour to get all the roots out. They took turns with pickaxes and only broke one pipe (which they repaired beautifully). We had our yard marked out by blue stakes, and it was crazy how many lines we had in all the best tree planting spots.

The small circle of  dirt is where one of the old stumps used to be.

I love how tall the Tipu is. I am excited to see just how fast these fast growing tree really grow.

They did such a great job with this crappy situation of roots and utility lines. You can see how part of the tree is actually planted in the pine stump area. We need to get some fill dirt in the old stump area and round out the ring around the tree. It's hard to see how neat the mesquite is. It's bendy and twisty and awesome!

I am just SO HAPPY to have trees!!!

tree hair cut

Regan was loving the back yard stump hole. Kaylee was freaking out that her Daddy was killing her tree. I had to repeatedly tell her it was just a tree hair cut.

I was freaking out having inner thoughts and visions of blood and mayhem.  BUT our poor formerly only tree was way past due for a through trimming.

All the dead is gone and ready for spring growth. Fingers crossed. It's very sad looking right now.
