Painting the patio. Part 1

I have had eight patio chars for over a year. With no place to put them. It's been very sad. This is why we poured a patio. And then because we are equally crazy we decided that the new patio needed a little something something before we could add a table and chairs. So painting happened.

IMG_4214And we (I) needed it to be fun (not easy). Diamond checker pattern sounded fun (not easy), so that is what we did. IMG_4229Two hours to tape the diamonds out, and only twenty minutes to paint. IMG_4232And we LOVE it. And then we (Jon) decided it wasn't fancy/colorful enough. So we brought home lots of color chips and played around for a bit deciding what we wanted. We have the paint and are just waiting for an opportunity (time is elusive for extras right now) to head back out there and finish up. Fingers crossed I will get to use this space for it's intened pourpose sometime this summer. Maybe……

FHE cement

We have been a little obsessed with cement projects around here. We decided that we would make some cement bricks for the children to paint. And that the new patio needed some color, some pattern, some fun. So Family home evening activities  for a couple of weeks were messy fun.

IMG_2012 IMG_2014The saw was too loud for Regan so he watched Jon cut boards to make boxes from inside the house. IMG_2022He was excited when it was time to hammer the boxes together. IMG_2025Monday nights we have dance class, dinner, then family night. So Kaylee is in her dance clothes until bath/bed time. She was so cute hammering her box together, and them helping to mix the cement up in her dance clothes. You can never be too fancy while doing DIY projects.IMG_2026 IMG_2030 IMG_2035 IMG_2038 IMG_2049I love her dirty dance butt. IMG_2053She had fun hammering out air bubbles. Regan was over the activity at this point and inside watching a show. IMG_2067These two were so adorable making cement bricks.

The following Monday The children painted the brick while Jon and I started the paint job on the new patio.

IMG_4206 IMG_4208If you look closely you can see the start of our painters tape fun. The children enjoyed watching us figure out how to lay out our pattern while playing and getting very dirty on the play set.

Kaylee’s 6th birthday!

It's taken me almost a month to post her birthday pictures. I've been in denial that my sweet baby girl is six years old. It didn't help that that night she started her countdown to turning seven. What the what?!?!

This year she chose to have a Justice League themed party. Heavy emphasis on Wonder Woman. Dressing up was encouraged and most guests did. SO FUN!

She was browsing pinterest with me when she saw this REALLY awesome Wonder Woman cake. "That's my cake Mom." Mine did NOT come out as cool as the one she found, but considering I only ever do frosted cupcakes we were happy with my creation.

I had way to much fun with sidewalk chalk. I don't think our back wall will ever be plain again,

And Regan has his costume all set for Halloween.  It's a new favorite outfit.

We of course had episode of Justice League playing.

A little pin the crown on Wonder Woman fun. Kaylee really liked spinning everyone around on their turn,

The kiddos enjoyed coloring their own super hero masks,

Her pinata this year was super easy. She just wanted Wonder Woman's symbol. She helped pick out the art work for her pinata and make it.

She only ate the frosting. It made me sick to watch.

She loved all her gifts, but more she loved everyone for coming to her special day.

This girl got spoiled. She got such fun stuff. My favorite is her new awesomesauce Hawkgirl pillow Emily ordered for her. It is SO SO fun!

IMG_1830

I spent HOURS online looking for a reasonably priced Hawkgirl action figure. Hours! It was so worth it.

IMG_1834

Kaylee's new Hawkgirl hooded towel. It's massive. She will be using it for YEARS.

Josh decided to model the towel to show just how massive it is.

It was such a fun party. She loved every minute of it, and loved that so many of her family and friends came and dressed up.
