What a fun night. I was so excited that the children got in the pool! week one of swim lesson was a success!
Kaylee monkey gripped around the pool several times.
In between pool time Regan sat here and request more food and drink, and got waited on. He pretty much at half a family size pizza by himself! This is not unusual on pizza night. Kid has hollow legs.
Jon was holding all of us. I look crazy tall!
Love these people! We were sadly missing a couple of Dad’s. and a couple of families, but it was still a great night.
Kaylee a few hours after Papa and Yaiyai arrived started reminiscing about making papusas. “Remember when Abulea came with Yaiyai, and we made pusas? I wish we could do that again. HEY, I have a great ideal! Let’s make Pusas!”
I was ALL for it, and her Yaiyai couldn’t refuse her. So we spent a day getting everything ready and I shot family a last minute evite to Papusa night.
We decided that Friday was the only day we could do it since every other day of their visit was filled up. This timing was not compatible with Joshily’s schedule. Emily’s Mom was having her birthday party Friday night, and Josh wanted both Papusas and party fun.
SO we (he) arranged for us to have papusas at the Benton home. It was so fun, and so nice of them to let us crash the party. Jon took the children to the pool while we were making dinner.
I wish we would have gotten a picture of Josh making some. Mom said she would help me cart all the supplies over to the Benton’s, but Josh HAD to help make papusas.
And the following photos are NOT in order, and I really don’t feel up to fixing them. 😉
Thursday night when Josh came over to talk about his inner conflict of papusas VS party, he and Emily asked me if I would make a flying pig pinata for the Birthday Mama. Emily’s Mom is terrific. Kristy has a thing for pigs. So Joshily thought a flying pig would be amusing. And it was!
I wish I would have known she planned to keep the thing (It got taped up after, and I hear it’s in her office.). I would have spent more time on it making it look nicer. She didn’t want the children to hit it. So she cut the bottom and gently taped it up so it would open without a harsh beating.
Kristy kindly let the children help blow out he candles.
I implemented my rule of birthday person gets first whack. Kristy was a bit reluctant to hit her flying pig.
We told the children to concentrate her efforts on the bottom of the pinata.
I was expecting several more children, but Jake’s family was out of town, and Shannon’s van had issues. So the four that were there got multiple turns and LOTS of candy. That was one heavy stuffed pig!
I the end of this clip when Josh goes and just shakes the pinata so it doesn’t take any more damage.
First of all at our house we are sort of lame and forget to check the mail. LAME! Just before heading out to Jan Day’s house for festivities Josh brought in the mail (About 2 weeks worth…) In our giant pile of mail was a fun surprise from Aunt Linda. She is the best. We love and miss her TONS. Kaylee squealed with delight when she saw her new hair bows. “Now I can have fancy beautiful hair!” She happily sported her new 4th of July bow all day. Thanks Linda!
Cheesy family photo.
Shannon has been so great at helping Kaylee (kid won’t do anything but CLING to me) out with being in the pool. She get’s freaked out if her feet can’t touch the bottom. Well thanks to Shannon she is now jumping into the pool! Slow and steady with swimming for my two kiddos.
The Day children are super in the pool and brave. Shannon says that the more my two see their cousins swimming the more they will want to do it themselves.
I just want to smoosh these two cuties. Smoosh!
Jon made his Strawberry Misu for dessert. Much loved by all who eat it.
And the kiddos used the dog door for coming and going.
Bug was a littler fevery icky so he spent most of his time in the sling/ in my arms.Â
We had such a lovely July 4th. Amazing food, company, and fun. PLUS weather was AMAZING! I have never had such nice cool weather for the 4th and was certainly not expecting the weather to be so great here. But is was and I am grateful. Thanks Jan for inviting us to your awesome parties!
