Independence
They grow up too fast. Lately they have been on an "I can make my own sandwich" kick. Which I have a love/hate relationship with. I love that they are asserting their independence, learning new skills and self sufficiency. I hate the mess. They haven't quite gotten to the clean up after you make food stage yet. Jam, almond butter, bread crumbs…. They are saving me no time or work by doing it themselves.
But man it is SO okay. The self confidence that shines on their little faces when they can make their own meal is priceless. They had a good giggle fit that Mama wanted to take a photo of them eating their sandwiches. You would think they would be used to the random life moments I insist on capturing.
Paint sprayer
We headed over to Joshily house after lunch to paint ceilings, window seals, the hall, and base boards. I have to say that I will NEVER roll a ceiling ever again. Using the paint sprayer was SO SO SO much faster. The hall way took less that five minutes to paint!!! I am Itching to go back and knock out the rest of the painting.
The down side of the sprayer is that the children don't get to help, and they cannot be inside when we are working. The air gets thick with paint. So they enjoyed lots of Frisbee time.
Prep work for using the sprayer is more intense, but SO worth it.
Kaylee took this photo. "Hey boys look at me for a picture."
Ready to paint. I have to say that I don't understand how boys can walk with the crotch of their pants down by their knees. I had wardrobe issues with a very large (for my short self) paint suit. Walking was difficult. I resorted to walking around holding up the bottom half of the suit so that the suits crotch wasn't tripping up my knees.
The hall and a bit of the library wall got painted up in fivish minutes. SO SO fast. The rest of the yellow will be rolled on so that the white ceiling doesn't get hit with overspray.
Josh came away sporting a nice yellow raccoon mask.
We let the children wander in after the doors got opened back up and the house was airing out. They both still felt the need to sport respirators.
Cutest butt munches ever!
Regan took the photo of Josh spraying the baseboard and this one of Kaylee. Kaylee took this one of Regan. Then they got mad at their Daddy for taking Mama's camera away.
Poor kid had allergy induced river snot all weekend. "Mom my Zyrtec is just not keeping up!" So sad.
They played a riveting game of pass the pine cone. It was the slowest gentlest game ever. What you see is pretty much it, yet they did this for almost ten minutes.
The lighting was wonky and so these nest few photos are blurry. So sad. BUT here is Regan getting his sister back with unwanted hugs and kisses. "Reeeegaaan. I don't want hugs right now."
So he kissed her.
And then laughed and laughed.
By the time we were done Regan was well done. Stick a fork in him done. Beyond ready to go home done.
