Blessed

A year ago today we were blessed with our sweet little Regan James. He was born at 10:04 PM on a Monday night. It was a “fast” Labor and delivery. Dr. H joked that I could either tell people that it was 5 months of labor or just a quick “active” 6. It was so nice only being in the Hospital for 6 hours (Kaylee was 23 hours) before getting to hold him in my arms. I yelled,”Holey Crow that was fast!” when our sweet nurse told us it was time to call Dr. H and to try NOT to push while he ran over (He was across the street). 15-20 minutes of pushing was all that Regan required (Kaylee was 2 hours!) of me. He was tiny and warm and all redheaded cuteness!

We had his party this last Saturday. It was fun. Regan got some real cute outfits. And some fun books and toys. He also got to have a special Regan friendly cupcake. He LOVED it! I tried one and didn’t care for it. Others that tried the special cupcakes said they were good. I also made regular cupcakes for everyone.

The Friday before party day Regan modeled the hat I made him. I used this tutorial here. I made just a few design tweeks, and it was SUPER easy. Now Mister Man cannot rip his hat off his head. I have given up on using his awesome Grandma Sapp hat. It’s only on his head for seconds before getting chucked. And with snow coming we needed a had that could be strapped on!

This was the mix I used for Regan’s cupcakes. Regan LOVED it so much.

Decorations.

Mama and Regan next to his Mama made cupcake piñata and decorated chair. His top had cute cute pants that went with it, but Regan had a B.V. issue right before the party. 🙁 Guess better before than during right?

Some party people.

Singing.

Kaylee blew out the candle for Regan just like we practiced. Such a helpful big sis.

At this point Regan I’m sure was wondering what was going on.

First bite of his wheat/dairy free cake and frosting.

He approves!

He ate that thing SO fast, and was SO happy about it!

Some party people eating goodness.

I LOVE the look of concentration on his face!

The mad dash for the goods.

Regan even joined in on the candy grab.

He wasn’t sure if he was allowed to grab the candy. Thus the face.

He spent time with my cousin Cristina playing with his new truck. They rolled it back and forth across the table for quite a bit. Regan had much fun.

The truck Jon and I got for him.

And finally this morning the birthday boy eating his special Regan friendly Mama made banana pancakes. It was his first time having pancakes, and he enjoyed them VERY much. I actually like how these pancakes taste. Poor Mister Man is having his WCC and shots this afternoon. Post to follow.

Halloween: part 2 the carni and trunk-or-treat

Kaylee was so funny doing the ring toss. She would walk up to the witches hat and place the ring on it. Ya. She earned/won that sticker prize! And Regan held the fishing pole for about 5 seconds before tossing it. But he enjoyed the stick whistle that we won from that game.

I only brought 1/2 the candy we bought. We bought a TON. It was gone in minutes. Jon had to run home (just a block away) and break into the locked house. The second 1/2 went just as fast. We headed home after we ran out of candy. Oh, and our 10 trunk decorations got an honorable mention, and a free ice cream cone! Next year we may put actual effort into it.

I took the children around to the very closes vehicles while Jon was breaking into the house. Dad was kind to tag along and snap some photos for me.

Regan I think had fun for his first Halloween experience. He sure enjoyed the way it ended. Although I ended up prying that Whopper out of his cold hands later that night.

Kaylee won a free frosty in a three way tie for her age group costume contest. So another BIG thank you to Auntie Jill!

Halloween: part 1 and a Regan update

Every year the high school where my Dad teaches puts on a Halloween thing for small children. This year Regan had a follow up appointment scheduled with Dr. K. for the day of the event. (And what an event it is!) So we dropped Kaylee off to have some Papa time while we went to see the (you wanna say wizard don’t ya?) Dr. She was sadly overwhelmed by everything so she didn’t smile for any of the pictures. But she came away from the event with lots of goodies thanks to her awesome Papa. I only had to take a few things away from her (allergy reasons).

Regan on the other hand didn’t get great news from his visit. He has only gained 4 oz in the last 5 weeks. Not good, but better than losing right? So he is on yet another formula, and is being scheduled for a scope and biopsy. Which sucks, but it could be worse. While we were with Dr. K he was taking calls in regards to another patient who was getting prepped for life flight. Keep in mind his oldest patients are 18. So really it’s about perspective.

Although to be honest I didn’t care for the following coming out of Dr. K’s mouth: “Crohns,” “Colitis,” and finally, “It’s a bit worrisome.” The last repeated several times. So there you go!

Kaylee’s buddy Carter invited her to the most happenin’ 3 year old’s party EVA! Seriously I sort of wished I was a kid so I could go crazy on all the bounce houses and giant slides. Carter’s Daddy even strung up the pinata inside the big bounce house. Kaylee had a really hard time standing up while swinging the (soft foam) bat. She mostly took her turn on her knees. Which was hilarious!

She even braved the GIANT slide several times. And this happened in the morning before Papa and Yaiyai came up to go to our annual Trunk-or-Treat. What a lucky little girl!
