Misc floor and baseboard removal

New house project #4ish

The floors look okay, but they are cracked around lots of the edges and need lots of love to be safe. SO, since we don’t love them we’re (Janice) going to remove them and have different flooring put in.
Sis in law Emily sent me some sweet coveralls. LOVE.
We took our first load of furniture over. Our outdoor table and chairs so the kids could have an eating place while parents are working.
Kaylee per her usual self dived right in to help us out. She removed 90% of the baseboard in the entire house.
We had the 2 bathrooms and the laundry room where there were layers of flooring to remove.
And the stress of it all is NOT helping me retain hair. Stress bald is in full swing. WOOOT. We’re leaning into it.
BUT I got ALL the carpet out solo and whole. Whole so we could use it as weed barrier in the yard. It was interesting rolling and hauling it out solo.

New house project #1

The garage before and after. The garage has a window unit A.C. It’s super loud, but it works great. The entire garage is insulated too. This will be where the kids hang ALL summer while I’m working on asbestos removal (although that will be done without the children on site), carpet, baseboards, tile, drywall, bathroom demo, etc… It’s a lot of demo.

First use the van sunbrella as an arm extension to crank on the AC. Short girl problems.
Power wash walls and floor. Acid wash. Scrub. Scrub. Power wash. Acid wash. Scrub and rinse. Rinse a lot.
Days later you get to epoxy patch all the holes and cracks.
Then you get to epoxy paint and chip the floor.
And days after that your babes get to move into their new temporary space. Jon and I will use this space as a bedroom while the addition is being built. Making the floors and walls nice was tons of work, but will be so worth it.
They’ve got a lounge space, chairs, desk, t.v., and games.
Oh. And ALL the snacks.

Clean, safe, air conditioned space for the babes to chill in while Mom demos an entire house so we can fix up the good bones and someday move in.

Vestibule demo

project #3

Probably the easiest demo so far. The removal of the wooden wainscotting was fast. SO fast.

The drywall will need lots of love. It feels bigger and brighter already though and that was the point.
