We are working on being a gracious looser….. Could I BE any shorter? We won despite the severe difference in height. Regan how'd you get all wet? "Squishy did it!"
Well that was too much fun!
We spent Saturday afternoon and evening with Papa, Yaiyai, Sam and Barry. We got to see Sam and her dance group (Kalamity) do a flash mob at the downtown splash pad. The children got to run around and get wet with Sam and Barry after the dancing. SO MUCH FUN!
So about 40 seconds into this first video clip I have to stop myself from laughing too hard so I'm not shaking the camera or drowning out the music. Sam is wearing a green shirt and black swim skirt. I wasn't in the ideal spot to get many good shots of her, but couldn't move. The crowd was thick. But it didn't matter. You can totally see when she gets reamed.
We got the kiddos changed into dry clothing and then Jon took them for a spin on the carousel. Regan liked it this time!
Sam was very insistent on taking the children to Judd's to buy them candy. When talking to Dad about it he said he thought it sounded fun, but told her she should talk to the parents and make sure it was ok. She was all, "Permission?! I don't need permission. I'm the Aunt!"
And so we went to Judd's.
Jon helping me be in FRONT of the camera. I like the one of me and Kaylee. Blue shaved ice lips and all.
After Judd's the boys went back to my parents house to relax before the big outdoor dance party. The girls went shoe shopping. Kaylee got a couple of VERY cute shoes for school. After finding and purchasing said shoes we had about forty minutes to kill. Mom wondered out loud where we should go.
Kaylee: We could go to Costco, OR a restaurant! (hahahahahaha!)
She is a wise woman. We went to a sushi place. Kaylee was thrilled. She made me laugh at her miso soup (she likes tofu and seaweed) eating method. Straws are just so much faster than a spoon.
Splash pad, rides, candy, shopping and food wore her out. She grabbed a quick nap before the dancing began.
DUDE! DUUUDE! I LOVE IT SO MUCH! Just watch, someday I will buy a beater van and do this. Not even joking. I've already discussed it with the Hubs and children. And that discussion happened months ago. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one this crazy. I have photographic proof.
Look who we randomly ran into! How crazy is that!? Ora and her cuties just happened to walk by before the show started. Happy accident. It was so nice seeing her and catching up even if it was just for a few minutes.
Watching my sis dance bring back many happy pre-car accident days.
It was loud. He eventually went back and sat with Daddy, Papa, and Barry. He did dance some though.
So I didn't realize until I downloaded and sorted photos that all the boys were sporting a shirt I made for them. How cool is that!?
Little buddy got a little tired.
Kaylee taking a break, "Hey guys, I just need some hydration."
Dancing with Yaiyai. She was SO tired at this point, but kept saying, "I just want to dance."
And she cried the whole way back to Grandma's house when we made her leave (She was falling asleep dancing), "I just want to DANCE!"
I think she was right in tune with National Dance Day. Oh, and how cute are her new school kicks? LOVE them.
We did a LOT this year. It was a big celebration. We headed over to Jan Day’s home where we spent all day swimming, eating, playing games, and celebrating our awesome country, and Dwayne’s graduation. The children did amazing in the pool (6ish hours!). They were more confident from swim lessons, which helped me relax and be able to enjoy the pool too.
Kaylee did NOT want to go off the diving board. She did eventually, but it took some doing, and a mean Mama. She said, “That was great.” after I tossed her off the board, and had a big smile, but didn’t want to do it again.
He’s cool like that. But really my favorite part is Rebekah’s face. She is becoming a tween!
Regan is our foodie. Kid can eat. He would swim, and then need to refuel.
And he got mad/scared when Charlie (the nicest dog ever) came over to sniff around. Don’t mess with this kids food!
Fun and games. The team potato sack relay race.
Everyone got to pelt the grad with water balloons. So much more fun than walking!
Haha. I told Tanya to dump the cooler of water on Josh. Didn’t have to tell her twice. 🙂 Jon’s was dying. Laughing so hard. To be fair, Josh had road his bike over in the blazing heat, and really did need the cool down.
Then Tanya helped Kaylee “get me.”
This one took some time, but eventually warmed up to the diving board. He had an equally mean Mama.
And then we couldn’t get him to stop. He was stuck in an infinite loop of jumping fun..
I of course HAD to make a pinata. It was a firecracker. Festive for the occasion, and built tough for the big boys to enjoy.
Jon was all sorts of excited that the pinata was tough enough that he and Dwayne got to have a go at it too.
Kaylee was SO sad that we were not going to be outside (just too tired!) for fireworks. BUT our across the street neighbors always have about an hours worth of fire works that they do in the driveway. So I set her up in front of the kitchen window where she happily watched fireworks.
Such an awesome day. We are so happy to live in this amazing country.
