Surprise visitors

I was at the mall’s indoor play place for a play date, when I got a text from my Mom asking if we were home today. I initially thought she wanted to plan a Skype call. I told her what we were doing and let her know I would be home soon.

DSCN6697I had just got the kids set up with lunch, and was talking to a friend who had just brought her kids over for me to watch, when there was a knock on the door. I was not expecting anyone. SURPRISE!!!

I do believe I yelled, “Holey CRAP! What are you guys doing here?”

My Dad said they were just in the neighborhood, and thought they would drop by.

I guess when they landed in Las Vegas from their summer trip they decided to just drive down to see us since they were already two hours into the drive down! My Mom was so giddy that they actually got me! I was SO SO surprised.

It was a lovely surprise visit.

Easter 2013: a post where I ramble

Easter weekend this year was crazy SUPER busy. Thursday night I had all our out of towners plus the Days over for a just because I felt like it dinner. (I do stuff like that…)

But lets rewind. Jake arrived Sunday and Kaylee and I were very outnumbered all week with boy stuff. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thursday Jon’s parents,ย  youngest sister (and her three cuties), and bother Jerris and his cute family got to town.

IMG_7535So that’s what spurred the everyone been traveling let’s just get everyone together for a family dinner visit thing. I had Jon call everyone (because I don’t care for calling people. It’s a thing…), and they came. Because if you feed them they will come. ๐Ÿ˜‰
It was a fun night.

Play group rescheduled their Easter egg hunt to Friday morning. We skipped out because Friday was also Kaylee’s Birthday and party followed by Josh and Emily’s (Let’s just call them Joshily. Yes?)ย  pre-wedding family dinner that night. Also a day of family and fun.

Saturday was wedding day. And this a true testament to how crazy busy I was ALL weekend. I did not take ONE.SINGLE.PICTURE! The shame. Instead I was all, “Jon grab the camera!” andย  “Dad! Take a picture!”ย  And they did, but I still hang my head in shame now….

So I have to wait for photos from the pro photographers. Booo.

Sunday the kiddos got spoiled with both sets of grandparents going to church with them. Four grandparents for two kids. Ya, they LOVED it.

Jon and I had decided to scrap the whole Easter egg hunt this year. Busy weekend and all. Ya, that plan fell through.

Kaylee upon arriving home from church says, “I am so excited to see what the Easter Bunny brought us!”

Me,”Ummm, I don’t think he has come yet. He is really busy today. If you wait a few minutes for him to finish at other houses we can go see what he brought. Okay?….”

Then I ran into my room and pulled out all the stuff I bought, but never put together. Good thing we skipped out on playgroup! Jon and I stuffed eggs like mad folk, and then he and Jake snuck outside and hid the eggs.

Kaylee was all, “WOW! The Easter bunny is fast.” You could hear the crickets after that remark…..

While they were out hunting eggs the ummm Easter Bunny left them some fun summer baskets. Kick boards and goggles for swimming, fun band-aids, and new sidewalk chalk were discovered in their new sandbox buckets and shovels. Plus their letter from Great Grandma Sapp.

IMG_7725Easter Sunday I had EVERYONE over for Thanksgiving dinner.ย  It was Yumm-O.ย  It was a crazy busy, but SUPER fun family weekend. We love our family so much, and love any excuse to see them and hang out.

The children ended their festivities playing Kaylee’s new Scooby-Do matching game with Papa. Regan stomped them. BAD!

He gave Papa a, “Great job matching game Papa!”, before heading off to bed.

Kaylee party: part 2

Holey toledo! My baby is 5!!!!
IMG_7560Barry and Sam on the TV via SKYPE. They couldn’t miss their only nieces birthday!

IMG_7561Papa and Yaiyai surprised us! They said they weren’t going to make it for the party or wedding. Their pants were SO afire! Such a happy surprise.

IMG_7563The Children were just a BIT excited to see them.

IMG_7564

IMG_7567Let the party start!

IMG_7572Rebekah was our designated reader of the clues. They wanted to put pirate Stich in jail. Hahaha.

IMG_7573It took them longer than I thought to find the second clue.

IMG_7575

IMG_7583Pin the tail on Scooby to find another clue. It was on the door under the tails.

IMG_7588This clue told us to eat some cupcakes. The children were all over that idea!

IMG_7589

IMG_7593So she started off at the table, but then Barry on Skype couldn’t see so we moved to the coffee table so Barry could sing to her as well.

IMG_7614The egg and dairy free chocolate, chocolate chip cupcakes were YUMMY!

IMG_7619Another clue. Telling them it was pinata time.

IMG_7620

IMG_7623Me telling the children the rules. Birthday child goes first, then youngest to oldest. And EVERYONE has to stay back!

IMG_7626

IMG_7634Sharice helping me out by writing names on bags. She’s cute like that.

IMG_7647The oldest cracked the pinata, and the kiddos rushed forward. This is me trying to keep them back. Haha, good luck right?

IMG_7649

IMG_7651Tis done! ๐Ÿ™‚

IMG_7657I had to add this photo of my friend Ting and my Mom on the swing set. I LOVE that my swing set is super tough, and adults can play too!

IMG_7659Reading the last clue.

IMG_7660Gifts are back!

IMG_7661Sam had to go off to work, but Barry hung around on the telly the whole party. He’s cool like that.

IMG_7673

This girl got spoiled. She loved everything she got.

IMG_7689She had a great party! We loved that she had some far away cousins able to attend since they were in town for Uncle Josh’s wedding. It made for a crazy weekend, but a super fun one.

It was SO crazy busy that I didn’t get her birthday photo shoot in until Monday. But since her party was on her actual Birthday this year I don’t feel TOO horrible about it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Five year old photos up next.
