National Dance Day

We spent Saturday afternoon and evening with Papa, Yaiyai, Sam and Barry. We got to see Sam and her dance group (Kalamity) do a flash mob at the downtown splash pad. The children got to run around and get wet with Sam and Barry after the dancing. SO MUCH FUN!

So about 40 seconds into this first video clip I have to stop myself from laughing too hard so I'm not shaking the camera or drowning out the music. Sam is wearing a green shirt and black swim skirt. I wasn't in the ideal spot to get many good shots of her, but couldn't move. The crowd was thick. But it didn't matter. You can totally see when she gets reamed.

We got the kiddos changed into dry clothing and then Jon took them for a spin on the carousel. Regan liked it this time!

Sam was very insistent on taking the children to Judd's to buy them candy. When talking to Dad about it he said he thought it sounded fun, but told her she should talk to the parents and make sure it was ok. She was all, "Permission?! I don't need permission. I'm the Aunt!"

And so we went to Judd's.

After Judd's the boys went back to my parents house to relax before the big outdoor dance party. The girls went shoe shopping. Kaylee got a couple of VERY cute shoes for school. After finding and purchasing said shoes we had about forty minutes to kill. Mom wondered out loud where we should go.

Kaylee: We could go to Costco, OR a restaurant! (hahahahahaha!)

She is a wise woman. We went to a sushi place. Kaylee was thrilled. She made me laugh at her miso soup (she likes tofu and seaweed) eating method. Straws are just so much faster than a spoon.

452

Splash pad, rides, candy, shopping and food wore her out. She grabbed a quick nap before the dancing began.

DUDE! DUUUDE! I LOVE IT SO MUCH! Just watch, someday I will buy a beater van and do this. Not even joking. I've already discussed it with the Hubs and children. And that discussion happened months ago. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one this crazy. I have photographic proof.

Look who we randomly ran into! How crazy is that!? Ora and her cuties just happened to walk by before the show started. Happy accident. It was so nice seeing her and catching up even if it was just for a few minutes.

Watching my sis dance bring back many happy pre-car accident days.

It was loud. He eventually went back and sat with Daddy, Papa, and Barry. He did dance some though.

So I didn't realize until I downloaded and sorted photos that all the boys were sporting a shirt I made for them. How cool is that!?

Little buddy got a little tired.

Dancing with Yaiyai. She was SO tired at this point, but kept saying, "I just want to dance."

And she cried the whole way back to Grandma's house when we made her leave (She was falling asleep dancing), "I just want to DANCE!"

I think she was right in tune with National Dance Day. Oh, and how cute are her new school kicks? LOVE them.

Violin Kayleeism

Kaylee has been asking for a violin for a couple of months now. She has also been asking to organize her piggy bank so she can go shopping. I helped her order a toy violin online.

She walked up to Jon with her little wallet pulled out her bills and said, “Here you go Daddy. This is all the money I have in my wallet. Is it enough?” She was five dollars short. He didn’t tell her that though.

She had to wait six days for it to arrive. It was a lesson in delayed gratification. She loves it.

Kayleeism and Reganism

Jon and I were in our room. Jon was playing Star craft, and I was reading.

It was about lunch time, and I hear Kaylee scold Regan loudly not to eat that tomato. So I went to investigate their latest shenanigans.

She was all, “Surprise, I’m making you lunch!”

IMG_9838Kaylee has been toying with the idea of vegetarianism. Can you tell? She asked where meat comes from, and wasn’t thrilled with the answer.

IMG_9839Except that when I told her that bacon comes from pigs she was all, “Ya. We can eat aminals.”  Bacon is a rare treat around here, and she LOVES that stuff.

IMG_9840And then there was Regan trying to steal all the veggies for himself. Broccoli is his favorite. Like screaming in the produce isle that we NEED more broccoli. Like it’s candy. It’s awesome. I LOVE it. And am endlessly amused with other patrons reactions to a tiny boy yelling for MORE broccoli.

We do eat one, sometimes two vegetarian meals a week. Mostly to help out the food budget, but also because veggies are YUMM-O.  But dude. We like meat too.
