Papusas and Super Heroes

The weekend of Jack’ee’s shower we were SO lucky to have my Abuela travel down from Utah with my parents, brother, Aunt, and cousins. LUCKY. She taught me and Jack’ee how to make papusas. You know since she is “…dying and will never see you again to teach you.”

We are fairly certain Kaylee gets some (if not all) of her drama queeness (it’s a word. promise.) from her Abuela. We are also certain that Abeula is going to out live us all.  But we are all still so grateful that Aunt Maggie and Abuela out voted my Mom’s, “It’s too much work.” And spent the many hours teaching me and Jack’ee how to make AWESOMENESS.

Also Barry brought his childhood cape (He wore his “SuperMan” all the time whe he was Regan’s age.) to get some sweet photos of him and the children “flying.”  I would e-mail him photos while he was serving his mission, and he LOVED the ones of Regan wearing a cape, and was super excited to get photos with him. Kaylee of course couldn’t be left out. So she donned her cape as well.

Enjoy the random photos. I was cooking, and taking photos of everything allatthesametime. Didn’t want to miss a moment. It involved LOTS of extra hand washing, but was worth it.

When my Dad woke up from his nap. He took over the pictures. He’s cool like that.

Kaylee much to the DELIGHT of Abuela took off her cape and put on her apron to cook with us. She did amazing. She made two (with help) mini papusas.

Those not cooking or flying where well, flying. Jon set up his flight simulator up on the T.V. for all to play while awaiting awesome, delish, glorious food.

Kaylee’s first finished papusa. Ready to put on the grill.

It’s so little and cute. Much like little miss herself.

She happily ate the two she made then announced that she needed me to make her a big one. Her’s were more like appetizers.

The children fought over Abuela’s hat. They thought it was so cool.

Kaylee won.

A big HUGE thank you to Shannon for letting us last minute borrow her electric skillet. It was SLOW cooking with just one.

Abuela’s visit

I so wish I would have been seconds faster with my camera when my family arrived. Regan about knocked Abuela over when she walked into our house. She LOVED it. She and the children where just SO excited to see each other.

But alas, I missed the cuteness of their reunion. BUT I did get some gubber craptastic photos of the three of them loving on each other late one night.

Please disregard the state of the children’s undress. Hot summer night right before bed = half naked kiddos.

LOVE.

Jack’ee’s bridal shower

A couple of months ago I got a phone call from Jack’ee’s best friend/matron of honor. She wanted to know if I wold like to help her throw Jack’ee a bridal shower. Um, yes!
We decided to go super cheesy and just have fun with it. So 80’s theme it was. Jessica on party day said she felt bad because she felt like I did all the work. Funny thing was I was feeling the EXACT same way. We decided we made a good team since we each felt the other did more work.
My family got into town the night before, and I wrangled everyone to help my blow up a million balloons, and put streamer everywhere. And rearrange the living room so we could put Josh’s couch in it for more seating.
Dad: Hasn’t anyone ever told you less is more?
Me: It’s an 80’s party. MORE is more. It’s going to be like totally bodashas man!
Dad: Hahahahaha!
We had all the guests dress up. Which was a riot. Also kind of scary how easy it was to find outfits. 80’s style clothing is sadly coming back. We ate great food, played cheesy shower games (prizes were AWESOME though, romantic 80’s teen movies like “Pretty in Pink” and “Say Anything”), and watched Jack’ee open a slew of gifts.

Jon and the children working on the dessert.

I got this door coat hanger that has never been filled up with guest stuff. The reason I got it was for guest stuff, so I of course had to get a picture of it exploding with party guest purses.

The yummy desserts minus Jon’s muse that was chilling in the fridge.

The super yummy food that Jessica (Jack’ee’s matron of honor and my co-hostess) made.

The games were fun. There was lots of laughing anyway… 🙂

Kaylee was in charge of giving Jack’ee her gifts to open. She would “hide” the humungo bags behind her and tell Jack’ee that she had a surprise for her. For every single gift.

Jon got a tripod and showed Jessica (I was busy) how to use the timer so we could get this sweet group shot. Look at how awesome we look in our 80’s attire. Hahahah.

The we took some fun family group shots after all the guests left.

My cute cousins Gabby and Kelly, Aunt Maggie, and the Bride. With Kaylee’s head. 😉

Three generation picture.

Four generation picture. It was so awesome that my Abuela could come.

My cute Mom and Aunt Maggie striking a classic 80’s pose.

So then we ALL needed classic sister poses.

And finally here we are sitting around the table girl chatting. It was SO fun!

*** Where were the boys? They went to Wet ‘N Wild. Regan was able to ride ONE slide. That I hear he fell in love with and went down many many many many many times. I’ll post the one and only phone picture they took as soon as I get it.
