Halloween: part 1 and a Regan update

Every year the high school where my Dad teaches puts on a Halloween thing for small children. This year Regan had a follow up appointment scheduled with Dr. K. for the day of the event. (And what an event it is!) So we dropped Kaylee off to have some Papa time while we went to see the (you wanna say wizard don’t ya?) Dr. She was sadly overwhelmed by everything so she didn’t smile for any of the pictures. But she came away from the event with lots of goodies thanks to her awesome Papa. I only had to take a few things away from her (allergy reasons).

Regan on the other hand didn’t get great news from his visit. He has only gained 4 oz in the last 5 weeks. Not good, but better than losing right? So he is on yet another formula, and is being scheduled for a scope and biopsy. Which sucks, but it could be worse. While we were with Dr. K he was taking calls in regards to another patient who was getting prepped for life flight. Keep in mind his oldest patients are 18. So really it’s about perspective.

Although to be honest I didn’t care for the following coming out of Dr. K’s mouth: “Crohns,” “Colitis,” and finally, “It’s a bit worrisome.” The last repeated several times. So there you go!

Kaylee’s buddy Carter invited her to the most happenin’ 3 year old’s party EVA! Seriously I sort of wished I was a kid so I could go crazy on all the bounce houses and giant slides. Carter’s Daddy even strung up the pinata inside the big bounce house. Kaylee had a really hard time standing up while swinging the (soft foam) bat. She mostly took her turn on her knees. Which was hilarious!

She even braved the GIANT slide several times. And this happened in the morning before Papa and Yaiyai came up to go to our annual Trunk-or-Treat. What a lucky little girl!

Kayleeism

A couple nights ago we (Kaylee and me) made a couple of pizzas. It’s Kaylee favorite meal to help make. She really loves to cook, and pizza dough requires actual measuring. So she gets to do LOTS of helping with the measuring cups/spoons. Plus pizza is her FAVORITE thing to eat.

Well I decided to make a Regan/Kaylee friendly pizza. I picked up a Gluten free pizza mix that was also free of: wheat, egg, dairy,……. Basically it’s made of rice four. Can I just say poor Regan. I even used real cheese. I just couldn’t bring myself to buy the soy mozzarella that boldly stated “It MELTS!”

Kaylee took a couple of bites before proclaiming, “It’s gross Mom.” She had two slices that she stripped the toppings off of. So she had bread less pizza for dinner. I actually thought it was o.k.ish. Jon has refused to even try it.

I’m thinking Regan will very rarely get his special pizza. That stuff takes twice as long to make. Yeesh! I felt like I was making pizza for hours. Oh, wait I was! Egg free dough is easy and yummy. So I will happily continue to make Kaylee pizza.

Anyway on to the Kayleeism. I was getting VERY frustrated with the dough. (It was more like cake batter!) And Kaylee kept leaning on my arm, and leaning off her stool. I was worried she was going to fall. In my frustration of the moment I snapped at her. (Not a good Mama moment.) This is how she reacted to me.

Kaylee: (reaches over and pats my shoulder) It’s o.k. Mom. I’m fine. You o.k? (Hugs me.)

Me: Ya. I’m o.k. Please stand on your stool the right way.

Kaylee: Sure Mom. (hugs me again before standing right) I love you.

Me: I love you too Kaylee. (trying to decide if I want to laugh or cry)

She kills me! Where does she get this stuff? How is she all calm and Mommy like when I’m the one throwing a fit over pizza dough? I really think it was divine intervention. I tell you what life was all rainbows and lemon drops after her cuteness. She’s pretty great right? RIGHT!

Josh and his friend Paul (a lovely fellow) came down to see some Shakespeare plays. They stayed at our home. It had been about a year since we last saw Unkie Jots. He and Regan met for the first time. I didn’t get a picture. 🙁 The children enjoyed their new playmates, and Jon and I enjoyed these two house guests. I am hoping they come back down this fall for the Shakespeare festival. I need a picture for Regan’s book. And we need to finish converting Paul to the glories of SciFi. hehehe. (There was a whole thing. Very amusing. But long to get into.) Here are some pictures I snapped while the boys were at a play.

Jon put Regan on the bike for the first time right before he headed out with Kaylee. You can see her waiting by the door with her bag of stuff.

Regan thought it was hilarious when he tipped over.

Happy week everyone…..
