We are working on being a gracious looser….. Could I BE any shorter? We won despite the severe difference in height. Regan how'd you get all wet? "Squishy did it!"
Well that was too much fun!
I got a phone call from Kaylee's teacher this afternoon. During School…. My heart started racing, and my palms got all sweaty. When She told me the problem I laughed (I am sure she was NOT expecting laughter…). An exasperated/relived laugh. And then I panicked some more with worse case scenario's (blood, mayhem) and bolted from the house to get her. By bolted I mean I yelled at Regan to use the potty while I filled a syringe with a dose of ibuprofen. We have NEVER left the house so quickly.
Me: Kaylee's hurt. Go pee in the potty super fast so we can go get her! (Did not want/need to worry about Regan's bladder springing a leak at an unfortunate time.)
R: Oh, no! My Kaylee's all ouchy! (Kid has never moved so fast!)
She was pretty darn miserable by the time I got to the school. I informed the receptionist of my reason for being. I volunteer every Tues. So she was surprised to see me on a Wed at an odd time.
Me: So um, My kid gave her eyeball a paper cut…..
R: Oh, that's was your child! (Bewildered I am sure, that ANYONE could give their eyeball a paper cut.)
Me: Um, yah. She sadly takes after me TOO well. (Hang my head in shame for passing on the EPIC klutz gene. Hurry through the door after getting buzzed in.)
Her adorable classmates were all very concerned and sad about her injury. They are so sweet.
Her injured eye leaked for a couple hours. She said she didn't need a doctor, and that it was starting to feel better. She did not care for my eye exam I gave her trying to asses the damage.
When asked what she would like to do, "I just want you to read to me the new book." The new book being Princess Academy by Shannon Hale.
We were all thrilled when the drugs kicked in and the pain went away. She is now laughing and playing with Regan like nothing happened. (Thank Heaven!)
She decided that her pirate patch was in order to protect her eye. And dubbed herself "The fairy pirate princess."
I love that they play together. Also please notice that Regan found his "missing" utility belt. The day after Halloween he happily announced, "Mom, look! I found my belt. It was in the crib under a blankie."
Now that I no longer babysit Emilio the poor crib sits empty, that is until Regan decides it's a great hidy hole for his things…. kids.
We got to bring Olivia home with us after school today. Today was Kaylee's first early release day. So she went to school BEFORE lunch, and came home at noon. The children decided on a picnic lunch with a movie and shape puzzles.
The imagination on these three is second to none. I was very amused.
I have a too big Kaylee helmet, and a too big Regan bike laying around waiting for kids to grow into them. Today Olivia was able to put them to good use. This was Regan's FIRST time on his own bike, and I found out later that is was Olivia's first time on a bike as well! She's a natural. I was shocked when Sally told me she had never ridden before. Shocked.
I LOVE that he insisted on his cape, Batman sunglasses and sword for the bike ride. Silly boy.
Regan did NOT approve when I left his side.
Olivia was consistently just ahead of us. She would stop and walk back to us to help Kaylee through the tough spots. She also kept telling Regan he could do it, when he got frustrated. She is such a sweet friend.
We had smoothies when we got back home, and then Regan went down for a nap. So of course the nail polish came out. We did candy corn toes.
Kaylee lived it up getting pampered by us. Olivia really liked be able to do the clear top coat on their nails.
We ended our day of Olivia fun by cutting out a couple of yard bags and taping a skeleton face to the garage door. The girls had fun placing all the creepy teeth.
