Kaylee’s first school field trip

I was SO excited to be able to be a chaperone for Kaylee's first field trip. It was an EARLY morning for us. Not for other people, but for us. We had to leave the house by 7:30 to drop Regan off at Aunt Shannon's and make it to the school on time. Let's just say there are very good reasons why we have afternoon Kindergarten.

The buses were rather full, so I hitched a ride with some other parents. I wanted to get a photo of Kaylee getting off the bus, but I was waiting at the wrong bus. Sad. So here is a picture of one of the buses arriving at the theater.

She came skipping up behind me so happy to see me, and tripped over her own feet. Blood, tears, mayhem. A tragic start to her field trip adventure. Her teacher was next to her when it happened. As was her friend and field trip buddy. Mrs. B asked if I wanted her to find the first aid kit. But it was not needed. I don't leave home without one on me.

Have you met Kaylee? You just really cannot go anywhere with the child and not have a first aid kit with you. This is after all the child who somehow managed to give her eyeball a paper cut. She has amazing klutz skills.

I asked a sweet Mom to grab a quick photo of us after the tears had stopped. You can see her lip fattening up nicely. It developed a good scab over the raw spot latter on.

Her lip just kept getting bigger. So sad. I put some ointment on it so she didn't have to keep a wipe pressed to it. She was thrilled to be seated in the theater, and LOVED the ballet.

Kaylee and Aditi.  Aditi was our field trip buddy, and we had so much fun with her.

I had to get a photo of the girls outside the Herberger theater with the ballet poster before loading the bus to go to the Science Center.

Aditi melted my heart with her sweetness. She helped Kaylee on and off the bus to make sure Kaylee's klutzy self didn't get hurt again. Awww….

Kaylee was over the moon excited to use her Wonder Woman lunchbox. It's not perfect, but I love how it turned out. More important Kaylee feels like she has the best lunchbox in the world.

One of Kaylee's favorite things to do at the Science Center. The bed of nails.

Aditi loved the bed of nails too.

"Mom look. I'm a DJ!"

I told them we could go outside and do the water works only if they promised to try to stay dry. It was COLD. They got SO wet. Kids. I did have the sweaters in my backpack for them to wear after they decided to be done with the water.

We went outside for a bit of a snack, and met up with these two cuties. Their chaperone was a Daddy, so before loading onto the bus I took all four girls back inside for a bathroom run. They were being so cute as we were leaving I had to get photos.

They found their teacher and attacked her with hugs. I had JUST put my camera in my backpack. So I made them hold still while I got it out so I could get this super adorable photo.

And then I climbed on the bus to snap a fast photo of the the girls in their seat.

Kaylee was SO SO exhausted from her long day that she fell asleep in the grocery cart (on a gram cracker box) when we went to the store after school.  Crazy fun, crazy LONG day. So worth waking up early for. She may never be excited about me going on a class outing ever again. I am grateful I had the chance to do this before she out grows me. And I am grateful for my AMAZINGLY WONDERFUL sister in law for watching Regan SO much so I can be extra involved with Kaylee's first school year.

Reganism: Big brother Batman

Regan is my running errands going on Mommy adventures buddy. This trip we braved Costco, Dollar Tree, and Wal-Mart. This little guy is a trooper. I said "Not going to happen," and "Not today Buddy" for items requested WAY too many times this afternoon. And he did not pitch a fit to any of my no's. So Mama guilt started to set in because he was being awesome about being told no. And then he hit below the belt while we were looking for a red shirt for Kaylee at Wal-Mart.

"MOM! MOM LOOK! It's a Batman for MY baby! My baby can wear Batman, and I could hold  my baby!"

So, yes. We bought a Newborn Batman onesie today. And my little boy was thrilled. It was the first thing he told/showed his Daddy when Jon got home that night. And he has since put it in his cloths drawer to "keep it safe for the baby".

We have been talking about adoption since Regan turned two. Regan being so young never said much on the subject. But he would listen. And lately he prays to be a big brother, and prays for his baby to come home.

IMG_7173

He was carrying around the onesie today so I of course had to get a picture (or 16) of my guy.

This boy of mine is ready to be a big brother. Although he is still on the fence on if he wants a sister or a brother. I'm thinking that if Regan's baby wears the onesie Regan picked out it will not matter, but be true and instant LOVE.
