Riffle safety with uncle Dwayne

We where visiting the Day house. Dwayne came home from shooting and Kaylee kinda freaked out about the riffle. She didn’t even want to be in the same room as it. So after a bit of encouraging for her to have a closer look Uncle Dwayne was able to give his lives in the dark scary place of worst case scenario niece a lesson on gun safety.

And the gun didn’t explode, and no one died. So she’s feeling better about proper gun use now. And we are talking about taking her out shooting just to round our gun safety knowledge. Because knowledge is power. And when you know about a thing it’s not scary.

She ended up being pretty interesting in the science of the scope. IMG_4702 IMG_4704Dwayne was very careful that even thought it was empty all people had to be clear and it was only pointed at the ceiling or floor. All part of gun safety. And sweet Cassie and her Daddy are the cutest. 🙂

Adventures in Foster Respite

Wednesday morning I got a phone call from our foster agency.

“I see you both are Medically Fragile certified. Are you available this weekend to provide respite for an NG tube baby?”

“Uhhhhh….. We took the training, but we’ve never done anything like that before….. We are available this weekend. I’ll have to check with my Husband.”

“I’ll have his foster mom call you and chat about it.”

“Okay.”

Then I called Jon. He was fine with it. I was terrified. Pretty much sums up our relationship.

After a LOONG phone call with his foster mom I decided to go for it. She came by Thursday afternoon to give us training and go over all his daily medical stuff.

Turns out it wasn’t scary or hard. Just new and different. That seems to be how life goes. New is scary, until you do it and then not so much. Also Jon handled all his machine stuff. I’m cool with meds, but machines kinda are more his department. So I did all the meds and Jon did the nightly machine stuff.

This little guy that we got to love on for a few days was SOOOOOOOO cute. Tiny and little and new. We all decided that it was so nice having a baby in the house again. Sleep depriving, but so nice.IMG_4186 IMG_4209Our little weekend visitor’s favorite position was just like this on Jon’s belly. Or laying on my chest. We don’t have pictures of that though.

Karate awards/belt advancement

So, tonight was awesome and weird. Both Kaylee and Regan earned belt advancements. So happy for them!

It was SUPER weird not to have my girls cheer-leading with me. Kaylee was out there doing her karate thing for the first time and Vivi was at her house I’m sure in bed. So I was standing on the bench (I’m THAT Mom) in the back of the gym yelling/cheering all by my self and missing my girls.

Not doing the silent rodeo with two babies was nice though…. It was just a different karate night that the last two we’ve had for Regan.
IMG_3898It was SO crowded and pictures and video are both encouraged. Jon had to fight for a half way decent spot to get any shots of the kids. IMG_3905 IMG_3907She was SO loud. Loved it. She really like karate so much. She want’s to get her black belt and be a teacher.IMG_3910 IMG_3914Regan was off with the yellow belts and just clapping for his sister the whole time. He was super proud of her.IMG_3920 IMG_3922Poor dudes underwear kept sliding down. I couldn’t figure out what his wiggle deal was until he told me after.  The Yellow belts did demos of getting out of peoples clutches. Regan had his back to us the whole time facing his partner. He did so great though.IMG_3927Kaylee was super focused watching her brother. I don’t think she blinked once.IMG_3929Then  Sensei Cory had all the students sit in the belt rank/classes and the certificates/new belts were handed out.IMG_3953 IMG_3966We knew they had passed their testing, but I got super concerned when he was done calling all the yellow belt advancements up and started calling up the yellow with white stripes up. Kaylee has been practicing the last two semester with Regan at home for fun before starting this semester. She skipped a belt! I was surprised, but not as shocked as she was.IMG_3967I don’t know why, but she was trying so hard to have a serious look on her face. After the initial shock you could just see her holding in a grin.IMG_3970 IMG_3975 IMG_3978 IMG_3984Regan walked all the way from the back row past all the students like this. I was laughing SO hard. He REALLY wanted his new belt. Yellow with a black strip skipping several stripe colors! Guess all the sparring at home paid off. 😉IMG_3988 IMG_3992 IMG_3997 IMG_4000 IMG_4001 IMG_4007Trying to get a group shot at the end was madness. All the flashes all the cameras.IMG_4011 IMG_4019And then I wanted a real quick picture with them…. we ended up embracing the crazy since looking at the camera and smiling just wasn’t happening.IMG_4021But for their Daddy-O… looking and smiling at the same time. IMG_4025Then this happened. I don’t know if this is funny or gross. Regan’s face though. HAhahaha!IMG_4027A kind dude took this one of the four of us. So nice.IMG_4028And then we needed one with awesome  Sensei Cory. Kaylee will be starting activity days half way through spring semester and so Wednesday night karate doesn’t work anymore. Sadly that means we had to say goodbye to Sensei Cory.IMG_4029They will do karate Tuesday nights with a new Sensei. Not gonna lie. We are all SUPER bummed about it. We are so lucky that we got to have  Sensei Cory for the last three semesters. He is so great and the kids learned and blossomed so much in his class!

On to new adventures in karate next Tuesday.
