Joshily house

Got some crown up. YEA! As the resident painterish person. I have to say painting crown molding kinda sucks. It looks SO pretty though.

Shannon is our cutting pro. She is in charge of all cuts. She is awesome. IMG_0579 IMG_0573 IMG_0574 IMG_0575 IMG_0576 IMG_0579 IMG_0586 IMG_0588 IMG_0591 IMG_0596 IMG_0565

I think I should just do random posts of this kid stuffing his face. He has hollow legs. I just can’t think of where else the vast amounts of food go. It’s amazing. Jon and I are already dreading what our grocery bill is going to be like when this kid is in middle and high school. And having friends over…. We may have to open a special savings account and start stashing money now. FYI: This was slice 4 of his own pizza. That’s right. He gets an entire pizza to himself.IMG_0568 IMG_0570

July 4th 2013

We did a LOT this year. It was a big celebration. We headed over to Jan Day’s home where we spent all day swimming, eating, playing games, and celebrating our awesome country, and Dwayne’s graduation. The children did amazing in the pool (6ish hours!).  They were more confident from swim lessons, which helped me relax and be able to enjoy the pool too.

IMG_9932Kaylee did NOT want to go off the diving board. She did eventually, but it took some doing, and a mean Mama. She said, “That was great.” after I tossed her off the board, and had a big smile, but didn’t want to do it again.

IMG_9913IMG_9923He’s cool like that. But really my favorite part is Rebekah’s face. She is becoming a tween!

IMG_9886Regan is our foodie. Kid can eat. He would swim, and then need to refuel.

IMG_9933And he got mad/scared when Charlie (the nicest dog ever) came over to sniff around. Don’t mess with this kids food!

IMG_9966Fun and games. The team potato sack relay race.

IMG_0081Everyone got to pelt the grad with water balloons. So much more fun than walking!

IMG_0152More fun and games.

IMG_0178Haha. I told Tanya to dump the cooler of water on Josh. Didn’t have to tell her twice. 🙂 Jon’s was dying. Laughing so hard. To be fair, Josh had road his bike over in the blazing heat, and really did need the cool down.

IMG_0206Then Tanya helped Kaylee “get me.”

IMG_0208She was in fits of giggles.

IMG_0234Couldn’t you smoosh him?

IMG_0284This one took some time, but eventually warmed up to the diving board. He had an equally mean Mama.

IMG_0285And then we couldn’t get him to stop. He was stuck in an infinite loop of jumping fun..

IMG_0360

IMG_0370I of course HAD to make a pinata. It was a firecracker. Festive for the occasion, and built tough for the big boys to enjoy.

IMG_0381

IMG_0387

IMG_0385IMG_0394 Jon was all sorts of excited that the pinata was tough enough that he and Dwayne got to have a go at it too.

IMG_0400 The money shot.

IMG_0404 IMG_0406

IMG_0410Kaylee was SO sad that we were not going to be outside (just too tired!) for fireworks. BUT our across the street neighbors always have about an hours worth of fire works that they do in the driveway. So I set her up in front of the kitchen window where she happily watched fireworks.

IMG_0409Such an awesome day. We are so happy to live in this amazing country.

Piggy Papusa Party

Kaylee a few hours after Papa and Yaiyai arrived started reminiscing about making papusas. “Remember when Abulea came with Yaiyai, and we made pusas? I wish we could do that again. HEY, I have a great ideal! Let’s make Pusas!”

I was ALL for it, and her Yaiyai couldn’t refuse her. So we spent a day getting everything ready and I shot family a last minute evite to Papusa night.

We decided that Friday was the only day we could do it since every other day of their visit was filled up. This timing was not compatible with Joshily’s schedule. Emily’s Mom was having her birthday party Friday night, and Josh wanted both Papusas and party fun.

SO we (he) arranged for us to have papusas at the Benton home. It was so fun, and so nice of them to let us crash the party.
DSCN6701Jon took the children to the pool while we were making dinner.

DSCN6708I wish we would have gotten a picture of Josh making some. Mom said she would help me cart all the supplies over to the Benton’s, but Josh HAD to help make papusas.

DSCN6711And the following photos are NOT in order, and I really don’t feel up to fixing them. 😉

DSCN6719Thursday night when Josh came over to talk about his inner conflict of papusas VS party, he and Emily asked me if I would make a flying pig pinata for the Birthday Mama. Emily’s Mom is terrific. Kristy has a thing for pigs. So Joshily thought a flying pig would be amusing. And it was!

DSCN6720

IMG_9509I wish I would have known she planned to keep the thing (It got taped up after, and I hear it’s in her office.). I would have spent more time on it making it look nicer. She didn’t want the children to hit it. So she cut the bottom and gently taped it up so it would open without a harsh beating.

IMG_9535I implemented my rule of birthday person gets first whack. Kristy was a bit reluctant to hit her flying pig.

IMG_9537

IMG_9538We told the children to concentrate her efforts on the bottom of the pinata.

IMG_9539

IMG_9541I was expecting several more children, but Jake’s family was out of town, and Shannon’s van had issues. So the four that were there got multiple turns and LOTS of candy. That was one heavy stuffed pig!
