Happy birthday Josh!

Josh was nice enough to humor me and let me throw him a little tiny shindig. Poor guy puts up with a lot living with us. I hear he doesn’t normally celebrate? So he really was being nice to humor my need to celebrate. He’s great.

We kept it simple. Bummed Kaylee out. She was all for hiding and yelling, “Surprise!!!” Had a picture in her head and a plan. She was about in tears when Uncle Josh got home before anyone had arrived. He spent some time reassuring her that it was o.k. Like I said he’s great.

I went old school with the candles. No number candles for Josh. He got an inferno. The children were amazed.

(Please ignore our construction/unfinished projects in photos. Slow and steady are our mantra these days for finishing work.)

Happy birthday Josh! AND Happy birthday to Ben. And Mom. AND Sam. We didn’t forget any of you, and hope your day was special too!

Party for Regan

So the sunday after Regab turned two we had The Day’s over and and a small party for Regan. I made him one of his favorite meals (curry and quinoa). And got him a gluten free brownie mix that I made egg and dairy free for him to have with his coconut milk ice cream.

We of course had a piñata and some awesome dancing. It was a fun little party with the cousins. Here are some of the many photos I took of the event.

Olé! Thats what I think of whenever Regan strikes his “cheese” pose.

So ready to eat his “special” brownies. Jon said I really shouldn’t call them that. It just kept coming out of my mouth in reference to his allergy friendly brownies. They were quite good. We have since bought more for him/us.

The lit candle freaked him out.

He wouldn’t blow it out.

So I helped him.

He was grateful.

And didn’t hesitate to dig in!

Not Jon’s best cupcakes. He blamed the move and not having all his stuff out of boxes yet. The children liked them though.

Happy birthday boy.

Olé!!!

We hadn’t put up curtains yet. So Jon used a curtain rod to hoist the piñata for the children.

It’s his party. Pants were optional.

Cassie wanted a turn BAD!

Candy

More candy

The children were instructed to give Regan ALL the Dum Dums. He was thrilled with all his pops.

Jon opened his gifts for him as he was too into a pop to really care about gift opening.

He got some fun stuff and has since enjoyed all gifts. You know after the sucker was gone.

And then they danced. It was quite the 2 year old bash.

An orange dinosaur party. With lip gloss.

***LONG post. TONS of pictures***

I choose SUNNY St. George for the children’s parties. The weather has ALWAYS been perfect. ALL week long before her party (and even the night before!) I watched the weather report and was SO excited for the lovely weather we were going to have.

Her park party got rained out. I didn’t have a backup plan. I a little bit panicked/freaked out. My Mom let me take over her house and I called, e-mailed, facebooked, cleaned, decorated, and prayed that people would still be able to come (tons of cupcakes and candy that I needed help eating).

Lesson learned. ALWAYS have a backup plan!!! And NEVER trust the weather.

Kaylee was beyond ecstatic that Carter came to her party.

Decorations

Her dinosaur cupcakes.

I made a pin the plate on the Stegosaurus game. The winner got a chocolate bar.

Kaylee thought the game was pretty cool.

She was SO excited for piñata time and patiently sat and waited while her Daddy and Shan strung it up. I think all the kids were excited about the piñata. I mean who doesn’t love beating up something for candy?!

Kaylee got to hit “Sally the Triceratops” first.

Then she watched in excitement as the rest of the kids got a turn.

Corbin went at it like a pro, then kindly helped me help Regan who was mad that I took his Linus blanket so he could use both hands.

At this point I realized that I made this piñata WAY too strong. The thing is I ran out of masking tape. SO I used ducked tape (because we are a one car family and I was IN the zone and wanted it done NOW!). Ya. That would be lesson number TWO learned. Be patient and wait for Jon to bring me more tape when he gets done working.

But it’s o.k. Brianna is one super tough Chickie. She took “Sally” (with a little bit of Jon help) from this. To….

THIS!

And then THIS happened.

Sweet sugary goodness for all. Goodbye “Sally”! You did good.

This guy here. Ya. My AWESOME Dad. Well he let us hijack his birthday. Not just his birthday weekend (like last year). HIS birthday. He is just awesome like that.

So we sang to him too. Kaylee’s Papa is 50 years older than her. They have blown out their birthday candles together the last few years. It may be becoming a tradition….

I think the kids liked the dino cup cakes. They went FAST!

She got so excited about every one of her gifts.

She got lipgloss, nail polish, clothes, books, movies, a new dino, a ride on motorcycle, and money. She was VERY excited to, “…feed my pig bank with all my hundred dollars. It’s really starving.”

Thanks to everyone who came and helped us celebrate the fact that we managed to keep Kaylee alive another year. She is our first miracle and is SO worth celebrating.
