Before and After: Livingroom

Our TINY but suitable living room. This is unfortunately the only pre-purchase photo we have. We painted and put up sheers. Then this last summer we ripped out the old nasty carpet and put in the new floor.

We had our layout the same as they did for the first couple of years. Then after Kaylee was born I MADE Jon help me change the layout. He didn’t like it, but I did.

So it stayed like this last summer. Our poor sectional was literally falling apart. So we tossed half of it while I hunted down a good deal on our leather set.

Then Jon convinced me to try something new. So the layout changed again.

Those are the former brown doors. They just look better white.

This is looking in from the hall.

This was my toy solution. A bookshelf with plastic bins. It worked for the space and clean up was super easy. Grab a bin and fill it up toss it on a shelf. DONE. I really like having the main play area in the main part of the house. I feel more like I am involved with playtime when we are all in the same space.

I actually learned to like this layout. It took away some play space, but it flowed much better.

Before and After: Nursery

So this is the room we decided would be our nursery. I was a little worried that we wouldn’t have enough room for all the baby stuff. But it turns out the previous owners just had TONS of stuff. Even after Regan was born I had plenty of room for both of the children and ALL their stuff.

I prefer not to have toys IN the Children’s room. I liked keeping their room a quiet room for reading/boring room for timeouts. 🙂

SO this is how our nursery looked up until we got rid of the guestroom. We painted and put up curtains over the blinds. There was a subtle turtle/ocean theme going on.

So just a side note. I for some reason brought that little space heater to AZ. Ya. Don’t think it will EVER be used here……..

So this is how their room looked with no crib and the full size bed crammed in. I knew that we were moving so I was o.k. with the temporary cramped bedding situation.

I had to repeatedly tell Kaylee that her “really big” bed was temporary. They LOVED running back and forth and jumping around on the beds. Oh, and the little chairs were to help Regan out with getting into/out of bed.

Before and After: Guest room

We turned their nursery into a guest room. We had MANY lovely guests over the years crammed into this small room. But I liked giving my house guests a door for privacy. And I really do enjoy house guests.

About a month before Jon had the opportunity to get a new job we turned the guest room into a home office for him. We had decided to make some financial changes and getting rid of the monthly expense of office rental/staff (that one was HARD/SAD)/cleaners/utilities was going to help us pay our personal bills.

Anyway…….. If you come visit me in AZ you will NOT have a door for privacy. You will instead be in our living/playroom. We are just fancy like that.

They so kindly removed the wallpaper for us. I REALLY appreciated that. Those wood doors took FOREVER to paint white. I am so glad I did it though.

Again. No curtains.

All the closets were packed. I was not at all suprised they were looking for a bigger house.

These are the only pictures I have of the guestroom. Our nieces and nephew were it’s current residents. So I had hung a blanket so the morning sun (blinds plus sheers in this room) wouldn’t wake them up TOO early. And Jacob got to sleep on the air mattress. BUT Jon did set up a computer for him so he was fine with that arrangement.

I had all my Japanese memorabilia decorating this room. And we painted the walls a soft butter-cream. It was a light and airy room.
