Nathan’s party

We had so much fun at Nathan's party. I loved his requested pinata, and how it turned out.

I thought he was done so I tossed his last two bites, and that was an epic mistake. His sweet Aunt Shannon sent him home with a nice large slice. He had a yummy snack the next day. This boy of mine loves chocolate, and dairy free chocolate is a special treat far and few between. Shannon made the cake dairy and egg yolk free so both Kaylee and Regan got to enjoy it.IMG_3082 IMG_3085

Chores

She’s old enough to start dusting. And since dust is enemy number one for Kaylee allergy wise, she is learning the art of dust removal.

She thinks it’s fun. We hope that the “fun” lasts a bit longer before the whining about having to dust starts.

SO(y) awesome!

About a monthish ago I took Regan in to see his G.I. Doc for a follow-up. Since Regan is gaining steady weight, and it had been sixish months Dr. K. said it was time to re-try Soy. He also emphasized the importance of starting in the morning and not at night. So I could better monitor Regan’s reaction, and take him into the E.R. if needed. Nice comforting words…… 🙁

I was scared. BUT I went to the store and bought supplies (soy milk and cheese.) Did you know that MOST Soy cheese contains Casein, a.k.a Milk protein? Which is what Regan is allergic to. So 4 stores and five brands of soy cheese label reading fun later I finally found some cheese for Regan to try.

It boggles the mind that a dairy substitute had dairy in it. BOGGLES! I was peeved. Mostly with myself for NOT reading the first bag I brought home until AFTER I had opened it. Reflex/habit kicked in right before I gave some to Regan and there it was in the ingredient listing. Casein, awesome…. There may have been a bit of ranting/whinnying to many people about it.

So Regan had pizza WITH “cheese” and of course loved it.  So we gave him more soy, and I sat around waiting for the signs of wrongness. A week of eating soy came and went and they NEVER came.

And so we are beyond thrilled that Regan can now have soy. I keep randomly thinking of and then happily shouting out foods that he/we as a family can eat now. I feel like the culinary world has been reopened, and it is SO(y) awesome.

And my kiddo is too!
