weekend conversations with the hubby

(Me and this guy here are like this now!)

So this was our Saturday afternoon conversation.

Jon: Why is the carpet wet? (as he is walking down the hall)

Janice: What!? (internally freaking because mysteriously wet carpet is NEVER a good thing)

Jon: Why is the carpet wet?

Janice: I heard you. I don’t know why it’s wet. (as I’m getting up to help investigate)

Jon: Well it’s soaked. (we are standing out side the water heater closet)

Janice: Crap!

The problem was indeed our water heater. And it was a Saturday afternoon! So we toughed it out and called the plumber on Monday (SO not paying weekend hours! yeash. we are poor. regular hours are good thanks.) morning.

Jon turned the heater off and we (I) just used cold for cleaning and stuff. And he would turn it back on (we aren’t crazy) when we needed to bath and shower.

Even keeping the thing mostly off I ended up soaking through several old towels. And our house smells like wet dog/moldy towels. And it’s like 20 degrees outside so airing out the house isn’t really an option.

(This is after 3 min. of using the Bissell to suck up the water. Filled up the tank 3 times before I could even think of adding water and cleaner to get rid of the smell.)

Sunday afternoon we had another fun conversation.

Jon: I think I’m going to call Bruce Thompson Plumbing. They have the best website.

Janice: (laughing) Ya?

Jon: They also have the best reviews and say they do water heaters.

Janice: Good. So stuff that I think matters too. (more laughing)

Well the lovely plumber man came this morning. Looked at our crappy water heater and informed us that we needed a new one AND new hot/cold flex supply lines. Sweet. (sarcasm!)

On the bright (hidden blessings) side:

We had planned on going to visit our friends this weekend, but then Regan was all snotsy and coughing so we decided it would be best to stay home. Never been so happy about a sick child. Can you imagine the horror we would have come home to?!

I was FINALLY able to clean UNDER the water heater (I’m a crazy clean UNDER things kind of gal). And now my water heater/broom closet is all shiny and newish looking.

Our new (clean/shinny/pretty) water heater is cooler (as in easier to use) than the old one, and does NOT look like it’s about to explode (that old thing was SO nasty and corroded and I forgot to get a picture!).

Also our sweet friend/neighbor Miss Pattie brought me her carpet shampooer to borrow. So that gross smell is gonish (we are thinking we may need to just rip out the carpet anyhow…), and I’ve decided that I may as well do all our carpets while I’ve got her machine. She’s totally awesome and we LOVE her. And clean carpets are ALWAYS awesome!

No basebords/drywall were water damaged.

Kayleeism

This is becoming a thing. As I go to give Regan his dinner, Kaylee will announce, “I do it.”

She then takes Regan his food and starts to feed him. It’s so cute/hilarious listening to her say some of the following:

“It’s ok. Eat up Man.” (
It’s too long to say Mister Man. So she calls him Man, Bug, Regan, or Regan James.)

“Is it delicious?”

“Aaaahhh” (She was demonstrating how to open ones mouth WIDE.)

“Open up. Eat. EAT!”

“Regan!”

“Stop moving. Eat!”

“Here you go Man. One mas bite” (LOVE her Spanglish.)

“GOOD JOB Regan.” (After he took the spoon and fed himself)

“Hey. Shake a tushie Regan” (While she showed him how. Never mind that he was locked in his chair! haha)

It’s weird because he hasn’t let anyone feed him (unless he’s mooching off our plats that is) in like 6 months. But if it’s Kaylee I guess it’s cool.

She is such a funny little Mama. I think it’s just in her blood to Mommy everyone. We love it. And her!

15 months old and a skin prick test

Ya. That about sums it up folks.
When Kaylee saw this picture she said, “Oh, no! Regan is SO sad!”

(Jon had the “lovely” job of pinning him down.)

I love that Jon indulges my need to photograph EVERYTHING! He even smiled for me after I dug out his phone so I could take a picture of our tortured child. (You know instead of giving me the “Woman you’re crazy” look.) He loves me.

Look at my poor poor Bugs back. We found out that he is allergic to eggs (The only new find and not a big deal since we don’t do eggs as Kaylee is allergic.) as well as Wheat, Dairy (all varieties), and Soy. He’s had a rough couple of days, and seems to be coming down with a cough to boot.

Yesterday we took him in for his 15 month well child check. It was a great visit. Minus the shots of course. Here are his new stats from his 2/21/11 WCC.

Weight: 17 lbs 13 oz 1.2 % (He’s back on the chart!!!!)
Height: 31 inches 45 % (Tall and skinny like his Daddy)
Head: 18 inches 12 %

So all in all he is doing GREAT! You know compared to how he was when he was dying the slow mysterious death. We are as ever so grateful that it was never worse that is was at it’s worst. Cause it really could have been SO much worse!

Mister Man is starting to kick his Failure to Thrive diagnosis’ Butt! He is also catching up rapidly in his gross motor skills. (His Fine motor & Language development were never an issue.) Makes his Mama proud! He really is SUCH a trooper. I very much doubt I’d be such a pleasant personality if it was me being poked and prodded ALL the time.

Hears to getting healthy!
