Going in the POTTY!!!!
The last few weeks he’s been running around the house in his underwear (with cape and “sword”). We officially started on April 9th. Day one we got poop in the potty. I texted people about it I was that excited!
We had an awesome 5 day stretch of poop in the potty with only an occasional puddle accident. Most of the time he’d get his underwear a bit wet before pinching it off and asking for help. He is doing really SO much better than I thought he would.
Since the awesome stretch he has had some poop accidents, but not enough for me to give up. A few months ago I tried to get him started with potty training, but he was NOT ready and day three of poop running (It’s hard to potty train a kid who has chronic but vomit. Cleanup is SO much easier when poop is solid.) down his legs put a nasty end to that attempt.
This time around he is really into it. So we are sticking with it. We go through lots of underwear, but most days I don’t have any pee puddles to clean up. So we are into week three, and he is hating to put on diapers for nap and bedtime. Makes me happy.
He even did better than I thought he would on our trip to Utah. It’s a long drive for a potty trainer and he was in a diaper with underwear over (so he wouldn’t freak out to much at having to diaper it up) it for the trip. He didn’t use his diaper stayed dry the whole trip up to Utah! He held his bladder until we had a potty break. Jon said the look of relief on his face when they walked into the Men’s room was priceless. I thought he would have trouble using a public restroom, but kid had to go and was happy to see a toilet.
He did OK at my parents for the amount of unusual distraction he had going on around him. We were there for 5 days and he had 2 poop accidents. One was just a few hours after a toilet BM. We are sure the unexpected BV (butt vomit) caught him off Gard. Jon said there was no saving the underwear. He tossed it.
The second one happened do to slight adult neglect. We were all running around getting the house and yard clean. Poor kid wasn’t able to get an adults attention in time. He found me moments too late and was so upset. “Mom what papened? Ewww. Goss. Poop! Help peas! PEAS!” I felt so bad.
Ya. Our little super hero is awesome. Just ask him. He will tell you, “I AWESOME!” |
