Before and After: Master

The master bedroom was… interesting.

2011-09-17_14-59-35_628See when you have a kid who has a major house dust allergy, things like trendy nightstand pendent chandelier things are on the list of decor that is the enemy. It’s like asking for EXTRA things to dust. Who would want that?

Our niece Rebekah thought they were so cool and looked like earrings. She was bummed when we put in the ever popular ceiling mounted “boob” lights. But hey, less to dust. That is our motto around here.

2011-09-17_15-00-22_568This giant mirror got framed out an relocated into the hall bathroom. And of course we painted the white walls.

2011-09-17_15-39-25_738This closet got flipped to the other side of the wall and is now the kitchen pantry. The doors knocking into each other were I am told obnoxious.

IMG_9022The drywall guy did an awesome job with this giant patch job.

782307410_2777626346_0My sister and Jason came and helped me paint the master. They work the graveyard shift, and came over early in the morning right after work to get it done. By 12:30pm they were quite slap happy, and I sent them home.

IMG_9019Slap happy Jason removed (to prime/paint) the old-ugly-wasn’t-going-to-replace-it because-it-was-still-in-fine-working-order light, and broke it. No one was sad about it.

pantry 058There was an unbelievably tetanus shot looking medicine cabinet here. We tossed it, and were left with a much nicer looking hole.

pantry 063So we (Jon) filled it in, and framed it out.

IMG_9020Pretend I keep pretty things here. Okay.

IMG_9021I’ve got these plant shelves in every.single.room of the house. I wish I didn’t, they are a pain in my dusting tukkis.  But they are nice to put crap on…. It’s a love hate relationship.

IMG_9025See that armoire? That’s my closet. This is the first house we’ve lived in that the master only had one closet in. I don’t have many cloths so Jon get the “real” closet. He has almost three times as many clothes as I do. Work, church, regular….

IMG_9029Okay so we changed nearly everything about this room. We would like to eventually change out the sink, counter, and cabinets.

Before and After: Hall bathroom

A.K.A The Children’s bathroom. And unless I’ve just cleaned it. It looks like children use, and abuse it.

2011-09-17_15-40-29_175These are the MLS photos.  It’s hard to tell but the mirror went ALL the way over past the toilet tank. Who thought that was a good idea? What guy wants to watch himself pee?

2011-09-17_15-40-41_689I actually painted this room twice. I am not a fan of white walls, but brown is so much worse. In my defense I was trying for a beachy sandy vibe. It didn’t work. Brown walls in a bathroom? Well that color didn’t last long.

IMG_9014SO, I re-painted. BUT it was SO worth it. We went with a light blue. It’s bright and soothing.

IMG_9015We got rid of the monstrosity of a mirror and put in the Master bathroom’s mirror that we framed out. Someday that grovey counter is going away…… And maybe we will get a new light then too.

IMG_9016And because we like house guests I made sure that we put in enough hooks to accommodate any number of guests.  And the sign on the door (saw it on pinterest, but don’t have a source for it….:() makes me silly happy.

IMG_9017The VERY first thing I bought for this bathroom was a new NON wood toilet seat.

IMG_9018Josh was convinced that we would have to buy new faucets for the bathrooms, and kitchen. They looked awful. Turns out they are decent, they were just hidden under far too many layers of goo. Josh thought we had put new ones in the day I cleaned them!

Sleepy pee

Late at night when we hear Kaylee crying it usually means she needs to pee. She is a VERY deep sleeper, so we help her out. She usually wakes up enough to talk to us and say thanks. Not so much this night.

Jon went to help her, and then yelled for me. So I thought that she ended up having an accident, and Jon needed clean up help.

Nope. He just wanted me to bring the camera to take some pictures of Kaylee. Passed out cold on the toilet.

009

I showed her these photos and she just laughed and laughed at how silly she is. And she said to me, “I don’t remember that!”
