the children

Lamby was turning into my crutch as well as Kaylee’s. So I finally cut the last 1/4 inch off the Lambys. When it was nap time she asked for Lamby. So I got one for her. She looked long and hard for her tag. Then told me, “Tag all gone. Mas Lamby peas.” So I brought her the other two to inspect. It soon became clear that none had a tag. She was devastated! I laid by her while she told me, “I so sad.” And even let her bring a toy to bed to help sooth her. It’s been an emotional week. But Kaylee is actually doing better than I thought she would. The last couple of days nap and bed times no longer mean screaming it out. They do still require one of us laying or siting on her bed. She also wants nothing to do with Lamby now that tag is gone. I figure that’s one less thing for me to have to wean her off of. I have found my self being a more attentive Mama to her as I can no longer use the phrase, “Just a sec Kaylee. Oh, hey. Just go tell Lamby about it.”

Well we got an allergy test done for Regan so I could know what I could feed him without causing a full body rash and the butt vomit. He screamed so loud. But as soon as I was able to pick him up and hold him he was all grins and babbles. He is allergic to milk and wheat (Jon can’t remember if it was just wheat or grains so we will find out tomorrow. He’s at our peds office lots as their IT guy). AWESOME. I had wondered what I was eating that was messing him up. I cut out milk and he was still icky so I thought milk was o.k. I had cut out wheat, and he was still icky. I didn’t think to cut them both out of my diet at the same time. Soooo any yummy recipe ideas for a house that is now egg, peanut, milk, and wheat (possibly grain) free would be so appreciated. I’m not a short order cook so I need family meal ideas. 🙂

If you look on my website the $5 dinner lady does lots of meals that she puts variations in her menus for families that have food allergies. Her boys have basically the same food allergies as your household too. She also has links to other websites of people dealing with food allergies and how they’re coping.
